-Chapter 13-

I gasped, waking up with a jerk. Taking deep breaths, I tried to calm my erratic heart, but in vain. The nightmare I just had seemed so real, so terrifying.....I felt as if I was right there. But the strangest thing was, I don't even remember the dream...

I jumped slightly as someone banged on my room's door. I sighed, running a hand through my hair and checked the time. 10:58 a.m.

"What?" I screamed as the person banged again.

"Get up before Mum comes and drags your ass out of bed." Braxton mumbled from the other side of the door.

"Okay! I'm coming!" I screamed back getting up from the bed and stretching.

I yawned and walked towards the bathroom to take a shower and complete my morning routine.

Getting out of the bathroom, I wrapped a towel each around my body and hair. Opening the closet, which is much smaller compared to mine back home, I picked a pair of ripped high waist skinny jeans, a black v-neck crop top with the words queen in bold red letters and a black converse. Removing the towel from my hair, I left it to air dry.

Checking myself in the full length mirror situated next to the dresser in the room, I was satisfied. I turned and left the room to begin another day filled with scrutinizing glares following my every move.

"What?" I asked mum, and dropped my spoon in the bowl. She was staring at me very suspiciously.

"Nothing." She said leaning back in her seat against the counter.

I sighed as I picked my spoon and took a bite of my cereal. Yes, I was having breakfast when it was almost time for lunch. Well, it's more brunch than breakfast. I sighed again as I looked up from my bowl and gave my mum a deadpan stare, "Do you have to study my every move? Like, do you really think I'm going to get up in the middle of breakfast and run away?"

"I can do whatever I want," She said rolling her eyes, "Besides, I already told you, you're going to be in front of my eyes every second of the day. And when you're not with me, Braxton or Darren will be keeping an eye on you."

"Unbelievable," I scoffed, muttering under my breath.

"Where are your manners Corinna?" Mum scolded as she slammed her hand on the counter top making me jump. "No muttering and mumbling. And are you slouching? Keep your posture straight!"

"Sorry." I muttered again, straightening my back. I cleared my throat and repeated the word a little louder when I saw her glaring at me.

Sighing, I uncrossed my feet and picked up my empty bowl. Taking it to the sink, I washed and dried the bowl and then kept it in its respectful place.

I turned and gave my mother a tight smile and followed her as she moved outside.

Keeping my back straight and my head down, I followed my mother wordlessly. Not like I had another choice. But maybe, I should've looked where I was going because I crashed into someone.

The butterflies going haywire in my stomach proved that the person who broke my fall and pulled me into him was non other than the infamous alpha.

I removed my hands from his chest immediately when I saw his stone cold expression. I gave him a small smile, "Hi..."

He clenched his jaw and his hands which were around my waist, pretty tightly might I add, hurting me in the process. But I don't think he realised that...

I squirmed in his hold, trying to get him to let go of my waist, which he was clenching pretty hard, probably bruising it in the process. But he just tightened his hold on me even more.
