"You two are doing great and I'm very proud of the progress you've made," the therapist tells us. "Every couple has their issues, but what matters is that you want to work through them together."

Alissa and I decided to go back to counseling because neither of us liked the direction our relationship was headed in. It was rough at first and we had a lot of baggage to unpack. While I have been pushing forward she's still been thinking about the past and learning to trust me again. I realized that she and I somewhat rushed into this new version of our relationship and we didn't all the way deal with what happened in the past. I know that I'm going to spend years making things right with Alissa and I'm completely ready to do just that.

This past month of therapy has brought us closer and really put things into perspective.

"Thank you so much Dr. Lewis," Alissa smiles. "I don't think we could have gotten to this point without you."

"Just make sure my invitation to the wedding is in the mail," she giggles.

"Will do," I laugh. "We'll see you next week."

"Sounds good. You guys enjoy the rest of your day."

I walk Alissa out to her car and a smile is still plastered on her face. She tosses her purse inside and turns to face me. "I'm really happy."

"Me too baby," I peck her lips.

"I have to get back to the office to finish somethings. Are you going home?"

"Yeah. I don't have anything planned today to I'll just meet Erin at the house. She should be picking Mila up now."

"Ok. I'll see you in a few hours."

I shut her door for her once she's comfortably inside and watch her drive away. When I get home Erin is already inside cooking for Mila.

"Hey you two," I smile when I enter the kitchen.

"Hey," Erin smiles back, drying her wet hands with a towel. "We are making cupcakes to go with our chicken tenders."

I look over at Mila who's sitting on the counter with cake batter all over her mouth. "Someone is going to have a stomach ache later."

Mila smiles widely. "Taste."

She puts the spoon up to my mouth and I taste a small amount. "That's really good mama."

"She's been such a good girl ‪this afternoon‬ so I thought she deserved a treat," Erin tells me.

"It's fine with me," I turn to her, my eyes scanning over her outfit. "You look nice today."

She blushes. "Thank you. So do you."

I just smile and leave them to their baking. It has been great having Erin around, especially with Alissa being back at the office. She has proven to be really good with kids and I think Mila loves her.
