The last four minutes might as well have been an eternity. At least that's what it felt like to Fenix awaiting Peri's wrath.
Victoria and Fenix stood in the same white marble room, awaiting the same fate with two completely different demeanors.
While Fenix shifted from one foot to the next, fiddling with her fingers behind her back. Victoria stood straight, right leg pointed behind her left like a ballet. She was uneasy but confident. Never once losing her balance. But her eyes darted rapidly, every sound triggered a glance. Truly a fox in every sense, and Fenix found herself in awe of her poise.
Long before the double doors crashed open, Peri's footsteps were loud and intimidating.
"YOU!" he scowled.
Both the girl's glanced over at eachother then back over at Peri.
He started towards Victoria, delicately lifting her chin with his thumb, "Truly I'm not surprised, you're idiocy and jealousy never fails to proceed you." Finishing off his comment with a violent mush.
"I asked her to, it's not her fault." Fenix defended
"Don't speak for me, I don't need your assistance Pet!" Victoria screwed her face in disgust.
"I haven't even started on you." Peri pointed a long black talon. Victoria took the opportunity to silently skip out. Not forgetting to flip Fenix the bird on the way.
Great
"Listen, I just- I've been cooped up all my life-I-"
"I've had enough of babysitting, spoon feeding, and having to keep you under close supervision because you can't manage to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up!" he roared.
"I just-"
"Do you understand the consequences of me keeping you alive?"
He walked closer, like a tiger closing in on an unsuspecting elk. Fenix legs were too wobbly to step back.
"Do you not want to live?" He turned his head sideways, Fenix noticed the wild-animalistic look in his eyes. One she hadn't seen before. Her heart hammered in her chest so violently she began to feel short of breath.
"I didn't-" her eyes welled with tears, some how she felt guilty. As if she undid the common ground they seemed to create the previous night."You know they doubt me because of you." He began pacing around her slowly.
"They question my authority, my strength-"he laughed.
"Do you too wish to experience my wrath?"
Fenix shook her head, "I'm sorry, truly I just needed to escape for a little."
"Escape?" He laughed before continuing, "Is that what you wish to do?"
Shit, okay poor choice of words Fenix! She mentally scolded.
"Do I treat you as a prisoner?"
The question took her aback. Sure she didn't ask to tag along and Yes the first few days were terrifying. But if she put herself in his shoes, she could've been a threat. Hell, even now finding out she's not human, she could still very well be threat to herself as well as others. Peri made sure she ate, she had time to socialize with Haley, and she wasn't on literal chains the last couple of days. Free to roam the building. He didn't force her to take part in anything she didn't want to.
For crying out loud, she drank his blood! The thought causing her to salivate.
Ew
"Should I show you how I treat prisoners? Leave them in the cellar to starve on chains?"
"Peri, I'm truly sorry" she tried again putting her right hand up in surrender, the left was occupied with another thing she' was sure to be sorry about in a day or two.
"Just go." He managed to get out through clenched canines. He cracked his fingers and rolled his neck, beat radiated off of him.
Fenix held her head low and slowly walked out leaving him in the White room, she headed for Haley's to share her surprise.
