When Kara and Evie arrived at their dorm, Evie immediately dove into her clothing rack and pulled out a blue dress. "I've made this for you just in case," she said with a proud smile.

Kara looked at the dress with reluctance. "Evie, you know I don't like dresses," she protested.

"I know, I know," Evie said, "but I just made one for you. And it's a perfect occasion."

"No. I am not going to wear a dress."

"Ugh, you're so stubborn."

"I don't care. I don't like dresses."

"Please, just put it on for me."

"No."

"Please, please, please."

With a heavy sigh, Kara relented. "Fine." She grabbed the dress from Evie and walked into the bathroom to change. Before stepping out, she ensured her hair was securely tucked under her hat. Once satisfied, she emerged from the bathroom. At that moment, Mal entered the room, a faint blush on her cheeks and a broad smile on her face.

"What happened to you?" Kara asked, curiosity piqued.

Mal sat on her bed, fumbling with her bracelet. "Oh, nothing," she said dismissively.

"Come on. Tell us," Evie pressed as she and Kara approached Mal's bed.

"Well, I kind of bumped into Connor and we talked for a bit."

"I knew it," Kara said with a knowing grin. "Wait, what?" Mal asked, puzzled.

"Just the way you guys looked at each other when you met," Kara explained with a smile. Mal's mouth fell open slightly.

"It's okay," Kara reassured her. "So why are you wearing a dress?"

"Ben asked her on a date," Evie interjected before Kara could respond.

"He did?" Mal asked, turning her attention to Kara.

"Yep," Kara confirmed, emphasizing the 'p.'

"Come on, we still need to do your makeup," Evie said, grabbing her makeup bag and sitting on her bed.

"Can't I look at myself in the mirror first?" Kara asked.

"No, that will ruin the surprise," Evie replied.

Kara rolled her eyes and sat beside Evie on the bed. Evie began applying a bit of foundation, some eyeshadow, and then blush.

"Easy on the blush," Mal interjected. "She doesn't want to scare him away."

"Not that I could," Kara said with a roll of her eyes. Mal chuckled softly.

"Please. My mom taught me how to apply blush before I could talk. Always use upward strokes," Evie said as she continued.

When she finished, Evie set aside the blush. "My dad was never really big on makeup tips," Kara commented, eliciting a small laugh from both Evie and Mal.

Evie grabbed a lipstick, applying it to her finger before gently tapping it onto Kara's lips. "And I never had a sister," Kara added.

"Well, now you have two," Mal said, stepping closer. "We're going to need all the family we can get if we don't pull this off. My mother's not a barrel of laughs when she doesn't get her way. Just ask Snow White."

"Are you afraid of her?" Kara asked Mal.

"Sometimes," Mal admitted with a sigh. "I just really want her to be proud of me. She gets so angry when I disappoint her. And... yeah, she's my mom, so I know she loves me... in her own way."
