Kara's eyes fluttered open to the sound of Evie's voice. "Wake up, Kara."
She stretched and rubbed her eyes, sitting up as the reality of the day hit her. "It's time, isn't it?" she asked, her voice tinged with a mix of excitement and nervousness.
"Yes, it is," Evie confirmed, her tone both reassuring and excited.
Kara glanced around the room. Evie was already in her bathrobe, and Mal was standing by the folding screen in her dress. Kara's mouth dropped open as she took in the sight of her friend. Mal's light purple full-length dress was stunning, hugging her figure and adorned with intricate beadwork. The dress flared out in layers of ruffles, and the elegant collar framed her neck beautifully. Her hair was styled in a sophisticated bun, with a few strands softly framing her face. "You look beautiful," Kara said with genuine admiration. Mal blushed slightly and offered a grateful smile.
"Thank you," Mal replied.
Kara swung her legs off the bed. "Well, I will get ready then," she said, heading for the bathroom.
After a refreshing shower and brushing her teeth, Kara emerged in her bathrobe. Evie was now doing Mal's makeup, and she looked up as Kara walked in. Evie, dressed in a blue gown, looked exquisite. The dress hugged her upper body and fell into a skirt of layered, wavy tulle that was shorter in the front and longer in the back. Her hair was styled half-up, half-down, and she wore a delicate tiara.
Evie walked over to a rack and picked up a dark green dress, handing it to Kara. "This is for you. It's on the rack."
Kara took the dress and headed towards the folding screen. She slipped into it and called out, "I need your help to zip me up."
Evie zipped up the dress, and Kara turned around. Evie gasped at the sight. "What is going on?" Mal started, peeking around the screen and stopping in her tracks, her eyes widening.
"Oh please, guys," Kara said, blushing. "Well, step aside so I can look at myself in the mirror."
They stepped aside, and Kara walked to the mirror. Her dark green dress, which reached just above her feet, had an elegant ballgown vibe with layered tulle and sparkling accents that caught the light with every movement. The dress left her shoulders bare and had a graceful, flowing skirt. She took a deep breath, overwhelmed by the sight.
"You truly are a genius, Evie. Where would we be without you?" Kara said, hugging Evie tightly.
"Thank you," Evie said, touched.
"So what do you have planned for my hair?" Kara asked as she pulled back.
"Sit down and see," Evie instructed, gesturing to a chair. Kara sat, and Evie began curling and arranging her hair into a low messy bun. She let a couple of short strands frame Kara's face, adding a touch of soft elegance. Then, she worked on Kara's makeup, creating a look that was subtle yet sophisticated.
Just as Evie finished, there was a knock on the door. Mal opened it to reveal Jay and Carlos. Both were dressed well for the occasion. Carlos wore a white button-down shirt with a black and white jacket, a butterfly tie loosely around his neck, short black pants, and black shoes. Jay sported a red leather top, black jeans, and black shoes, with his hair neatly tied in a bun.
"Are you guys ready?" Jay asked, his eyes taking in the girls' outfits with admiration.
"You guys look good," he added, while Carlos nodded in agreement.
Kara smiled warmly at them. "Do you guys know how lucky I am to have you?"
All four smiled back at her. "I love you guys," she said, her voice trembling slightly as tears filled her eyes.
