We snuck down the stairs, careful not to wake the doctor. Jack had tied him up in a cabinet.
I opened the door and held my sword in front of me. I opened it all the way only when I was sure there was no one there.
We walked to the middle of the square, toward the fountain. So far, there were none of Oogie's men. "Okay. Let's start going into houses." I whispered.
We walked along the main road, walking into houses. So far, we had found no one. We reached a bigger house with a wide door. I felt that weird, cold sensation again and shuttered.
It was wide at the bottom, but got really narrow toward the top. It was really tall. Jack opened the door and one by one, we squeezed inside, me going first.
We walked around the house, it seemed like there was no one there. I froze as I had a vision. "Cover her!" I heard Sally say. I was in the same house.
A man shaped like a cone with a tall hat was walking around, he was trying to make tea. I had seen him earlier, in the tower. He was two faced, one side was a happy smile and the other was an angry face.
He was humming some song and searching the cabinets. I saw a shadow come over his back. "Who's there!" He yelled. His frowning face turned to the front as he turned around.
"Oogie!" He yelled. I watched a gigantic green and black shape tackle the other man. I watched them fumble until the black and green shape knocked out the other man.
He flashed something green and the other man woke up. "Come with me." The black and green shape (Oogie?) said, raising the other man off the ground.
The other man turned and wrestled with the black and green shape. The black and green shape finally knocked out the other man. I followed as he was shoved into a closet.
I snapped out of my vision with a gasp. "What did you see?" Sally asked me, putting her hand on my shoulder. "He's in here." I said, walking into the black and red kitchen, down the hallway and to the closet.
I opened the door and the man fell out, making me jump back. He opened his eyes and looked at me. "Sally! Thank heavens!" He smiled, his face was on the happy side. He was shaped like a cone, making me think of the door.
I looked at him and laughed. "She's over there." He looked really confused for a moment. "Wait.. You're Spark? Aren't you! That's just wonderful!"
He gave me a bone crushing hug. I hugged him back and held up my sword. "What are you doing?" He asked. "Making sure you're not with Oogie." I said. "Oogie!? That fiend!" He yelled.
The pumpkin on the end did not flash. "He's fine." I said quietly. "Okay. Let's see who else we can find." Jack said quickly.
We walked into another house, this time, a person was laying on the ground. It was a gigantic wolf.
I had a short flashback, the black and green shape tried to flash him with the green thing but ended up choking him. I walked over and shook him, his yellow eyes slowly opened.
"Oogie! Where is he!?" He snarled. "Easy big man. He's gone." I said, we all helped him up. "Where are my pups?" He howled, running up the stairs like a rhino.
I chased after him, my bones rattling like crazy. I heard a sigh and looked around. The werewolf was holding two little pups. "Here they are. Thank god." He smiled.
I held up my sword, sideways, and it didn't blink. "What do you think you're doing!?" He snarled. He set down the pups and threw the sword to the side.
"I was making sure you weren't one of Oogie's men. Ordered by Jack." I said quietly. "Oh. I'm very sorry. Wait....you're Sally? No. You're Spark!" He smiled a wolfish grin.
"Yes." He smiled and retrieved the sword from where he had thrown it. "Here you are. Sorry about that. Just have to protect my pups, that's all." I nodded at him.
"I understand. You're just being a great father." He followed me downstairs after grabbing two bags for pups.
"We're ready." I said to Jack and the rest of our crew. "Samantha. She has been with you. Where is she?" He asked. Of course you can't lie to a werewolf!
"Oogie. He has her." Sally said quietly. "Sally! Where have you been?" He asked. Then, he snarled. "He has her!?"
"Yes. He does. I cannot say where I have been." Sally said quietly. "Not here. Not now." The werewolf nodded.
"Oh. I didn't introduce myself, I am Cedarcross." I nodded, holding out a bony hand, "I'm Spark." He smiled and shook my hand.
"This is Maplelily and this is Piner." I smiled at the two little pups. "Okay, let's go." We left the house and searched other houses, only finding about 100 people compared to the about 300 people that lived in HalloweenTown.
We all went through the gates, Sally, Jack, and I trying to hold open the wardrobe as much as we could.
"I think that's everyone. Except Samantha." I said sadly. I felt something take my back and turned, another demon thing was behind me. "Go! I got this!" I yelled.
"No. I won't leave you behind." Sally said, pushing Jack through the wardrobe. I clutched my sword as more demons appeared.
They were solid figures shaped like panthers. More came that were shaped like giant snakes. I fought off as many as I could, my sword slicing through them.
Sally was doing her best to fight them off. "What are these things?" I yelled. "I think they're demons!" She yelled back.
She ran to me and tried to say something. "Sally!" I yelled, jumping over her. I slashed at a gigantic cobra that tried to sink its teeth into her shoulder.
I sliced off its head as more creatures approached. "We have to get out of here!" I yelled. She nodded at me.
"Here, I'll hold them off while you open the wardrobe!" I yelled. I started to fight with all my might, my sword swinging each way.
I heard a frustrated scream and turned. Sally was holding her side. I saw a gigantic bear thing swinging its claws. "No!" I yelled. I sliced the bear and tore it away from Sally. She still had her cloak on.
I imagined all of the creatures being flung back a good 20 feet. I concentrated as hard as I could. Half the black shapes retreated.
I tried to get up as I collapsed on the ground. I had a feeling we weren't going to make it out of HalloweenTown.
