Spark POV
I looked up and saw Leo come over to me. "How did you escape the Hanging Tree?" I growled."I made a deal with it. That I would go back as soon as I did what I needed to do, for a year." "A year!?" I asked, surprised.
"Yes. You mean that much to me. Look, my father is about to go through the portal in three days, and there's no way we can stop him. We can only gather as many people as we can and go back to the human realm to fight them off. He'll have an entire army full of zombiefied humans. We need to try and gather as many people in Halloween Town as we can to save everyone." Leo said.
"Wait. If you're Oogie's kid...this is a set up!" I yelled. "Shhh. No, it's not. Honestly. If it is, then kill me afterward with your sword. The only way I can die is a sword directly through my heart. I was supposed to trick you at first, but fell in love with you." He said. He looked like misery was written all over his face.
"He's telling the truth, Spark." Sally said, lowering her hood. Leo bowed to Sally. "My Queen." Sally grinned. "Please stand." She responded.
"If I hurt any of you in any way, please kill me. A sword straight through the heart." He said, pointing to his heart. "I may have to do some under cover things so my father does not know about me helping you, but I swear I will protect all of you." He said. His eyes glowed truthfully.
"Alright. I will trust you. Who is in this dungeon?" I asked. Leo laughed. "This is my father's house." I looked around at all of the death weapons. "Really?"
Leo shrugged. "It is HalloweenTown. But no one. I cut their lines and let all of them escape. Jack, Hangman, The Mayor, Ruby, and I think that was it. There was no sign of your mother." He said. I raised my eyebrows.
"You know who I mean....Samantha? Is that her name?" He asked me carefully. "Yes." I bowed my head, trying not to let him see me cry.
I felt him touch my face. He wiped away my tears. "We'll find her. You have my word. I'll bring her back to you." He swore, grabbing me by my shoulders.
"Spark. Look at me." I looked up at him. "I promise. I'll get her back." I nodded at him.
We ran towards the ladder that hung down from the opposite chute. I went first, my bones clanking as we climbed. "I told your father and everyone else to meet us in the pumpkin patch." Leo explained as we ran towards the car.
We climbed in and my mother sped off as we heard Oogie bellow in the distance. "He's awake! We have to get moving!" I yelled.
My mother drove us to the pumpkin patch and I saw Jack sitting on his hill. Two people were sitting beside him. One was Hangman with all of his hanging skeletons, and the other was a girl I had never seen before. She looked like a cross between a zombie and a witch.
They ran towards us as soon as they saw us. "We need a way out of HalloweenTown that Oogie doesn't know about." I explained. My father put his hand over his mouth in thought.
"We need to create a portal. Oogie would see it and come running, but we have to close it before he gets there. I can reach the others and instruct them on the portal from the human realm." Jack explained.
"Wait. Let me stay behind and I can rally some people to help. Just open the portal when I can reach you and tell you." Ruby explained. "Alright. But you best be safe." Jack said.
"How are we going to open a portal?" I asked, surprised. "We need to reach The Doors." Jack said. "Only then can we join together and open it!"
We drove up the hill and past the pumpkin patch as fast as we possibly could. When we finally reached the edge of the forest, Jack looked up into the sky. I instinctively looked too. There was a black hole!
"Okay. We need to join our magic together and aim it at the sky. Hurry! We've got not a moment to waste!" Jack said. We all joined hands and Sally put her head down, closing her eyes. We all followed her lead and I focused as hard as I could. "Focus on aiming it at the sky." She told me quietly.
I imagined our magic intertwining and going up to the sky. There was a large BOOM as I felt the wind pick up around us. I also felt something attack me! "They've found us!" Sally gasped.
"We can't let them go through the portal with us!" Jack yelled as the wind picked up speed. "I got this. Go! I'll hold them back!" Leo yelled. "No. You have so much to live for and you've done so much. I got this." Hangman responded. He turned around, "trust this kid. He's a good one." He said gesturing to Leo before launching into the army.
We had enough time for Leo to grab onto me as a huge twister sucked us up into the sky. "Don't look back." Leo whispered.
I felt myself hit the ground and looked around. We had all landed in the front yard of Dave and Samantha's house!
