Part 17

Erin/Brookes POV

Its three days till Jay and I were due back in Chicago- along with the kids. All three of us, decided it would be a good idea to get there a couple of days before Voights birthday, so the twins' little bodies can adjust to the time change and surrounding. "Are you sure you want to do this? By the sounds of it, you left leaving everyone in limbo" Julian says, hoping he can change my mind. "Julian, im going okay. I need to do this, I left alot of unopened that I need to close" I say, resting my hand on Julians chest. "You both still need to tell Hallie" Julian reminds me- not that I need reminding. "Tell me what?" Hallie corsioulsy asks, over hearing us as she walked into the living room. "Um, nothing" I smile, looking to Julian for help. "I know what I heard, tell me" Hallie demanded, getting annoyed and worried as she slowly makes her way over to us. "You know when Jay freaked the other day?" I say, not jumping straight into. "Yes.." Hallie replies, unsure of where its going. "He was married to your mum" Julian says, not beating round the bush. Hallies eyes start to tear up, her mind clearly rushing all the cenarios through her head. "Um, ugh. Is he.." Hallie prompts, looking down trying to hide her tears. "Jay had no idea, your mum never told him. I can tell when Jay is lying and he wasnt- it was clear he didn't know about you. What I do know is that he feels awful about it all and wishes he could have been there for you" I explain, tears brimming my eyes too- making everything blury. "Wow, I know he wouldn't have ment too. Jay doesnt seem like a guy to do something like that" Hallie sniffles, trying to make sense of it all. "How long have you known? I dont just mean him being my dad- him being married to my mum aswell" Hallie asks. "I didnt know till just before I left Chicago. He was still married when we were dating- they didn't see each other though, zero contact" I reply, clenching Julians hand really hard. "Whatever happens next, just know your mum and I will always love you and your not going anywhere" Julian reassures, resting his hand onto Hallies, petite, shoulder. "I want to talk to Jay- alone" Hallie says, making sure we understood the 'alone' part very clearly. "I dont..." Julian starts to debate but gets shut off by Hallie. "You cant stop me" Hallie snaps. "Hes my birth dad- wouldn't you want to know more if you were me?" Hallie adds, snapping Julians head off. Julian looks to me for help, but I'm with Hallie- I totally understand were she is coming from. Julian shakes his head in dispare but reluctantly agrees. "Ill call him now. You still want to go to Chicago?" Julian asks, praying to God shes changed her mind "I wanna go Julian" Hallie states, calling Julian by his first name for the first time in a year or so. "Okay then" Julian says, clearly upset with the change of name.
