I wake up on Saturday morning and down my breakfast. I don't have to leave until 11 in which Eureka will be picking me up; it's nine o'clock now. I still don't have a licence because I'm a disaster on the road, and it won't help with the breakup and all my emotions, but lately either Calum or Michael have been picking me up for school. Even Ashton would drive me when he'd pick up Eureka too. He's started at our school now and I can tell Eureka's excited. Do you think her constantly jumping up and down is a huge hint?
I feel a lot closer to the boys now and am glad I still get along with Luke's friends even though him and I aren't together anymore. His friends don't even see him anymore but I find it sad that they kind of had to choose a side when it came to this situation. They chose mine because they knew I wouldn't do such a thing to Luke; cheat on him like that. But how can they see it and not Luke? Is it maybe because he just wants me for himself?
I put on a pair of black leather skinny jeans and a white singlet top. I grab my bag and fill it with everything I will need for the day, which is money and accessories. We're just going shopping and out for lunch but I don't really care for what we're doing because I just want to spend some time with my friends. I've found that I don't speak to the girls as often, probably because we are all caught up in the boy business, especially me, but I'm happy to talk to them today and shop because I need clothes; I usually wear the same outfit a lot. Habit.
When there is finally a knock on my door, I jump up and grab my stuff. I swing it open to find Eureka looking cute in a black skater skirt and white crop top with black wedges. Her brown hair is perfectly straightened and brushed, flowing over her shoulders and down her back.
"If I had known you were dressing like that I would have dressed up a little more." I say pointing to her outfit and then mine, comparing the two.
"You look fine. Super cute actually and I bet Lu - I mean... let's go!" She yells after correcting herself and grabbing my hand, dragging me to the car to create less awkwardness and tension. It's too late though because I know she was going to say Luke would love what I am wearing and the thought brings a familiar pang to my chest. One of hurt and upset.
We get into the car and on the drive there talk about school and random stuff, forgetting the recent awkwardness, and I find myself laughing along with Eureka. I'm glad that Eureka and I can still have a laugh after everything going on in our lives and just forget about it all. I've been feeling so upset lately and I know for the day I'll try to forget about Luke. I'll push all my feelings down where I will deal with them later but I know that they will eventually come out and I will break. I'm just hoping I can hide them for long enough to at least pretend to be feeling normal; to fool myself.
When we get to the shopping centre, we find Katrina and Elena and start our mission. We go through several shops and I end up with around 10 bags. Yeah, I guess you could say that was a lot but I'm in desperate need of clothes and accessories.
We decide to get lunch and walk into Nandos. The girls walk right in and up to a table in the back where Calum, Michael and Ashton are sitting.
"Hey Chiarra." All the boys say hugging me and everyone else in greeting.
"You didn't mind us calling them did you?" Elena asks. I can tell that the girls want their boys here and I won't stop them. But I know she means how Luke isn't here and they all have a boy. I'm the odd one out. I start to feel sad that he's not here but say something to get my mind off of it.
"No, of course not." I say as we all take our seats with a smile, sorry, a fake smile, on my face. I sit in-between Eureka and Katrina.
We order our food and as the waiter leaves, I start asking the girls questions.
"So are you dating Michael and you Calum?" I ask directing the question at Katrina and then Elena in a bubbly tone.
"Yes." They say at the same time in sync.
I jump up and down in my seat to see the rest of the table staring at me weirdly.
"What?! You guys didn't tell me you were dating these two!" I half yell at Calum and Michael. I didn't even get time to push them and embarrass them about it!
"We didn't want you to... you know, get upset." Calum says, Michael nods slowly in agreement.
"I know," I say sadly, "but someone has to make sure they tell me if my best friends are dating the two dorkiest boys-"
"Hey!" Katrina yells, the whole restaurant glancing our way.
"I was joking! They're very caring and funny." I say, thinking about how Luke's exactly those two things. Why did everything evolve around him. They all must sense me thinking of him because that's when the serious conversation starts.
"Chiarra, we have to talk to you..." Ashton says slowly.
