"I have no idea what I am doing." Roman muttered to himself as he tried really hard to focus on the road. He just couldn't stop thinking about Virgil... and his reaction to them being mates. Roman's heart felt like it was shattering in his chest. It's not uncommon at all for a pair to fall in love at first sight. Roman knew for a fact that he had fallen hard for his mate. The ache in him to be close and to just be able to hold him... but the need to claim him made it all... painful. Roman was holding off on even mentioning it. Something deep in him was telling him it was a very bad idea to even bring it up... so he didn't, but... The longer he held off the worse it got. It was painful. His wolf was begging to claim his mate to make the bond complete... but he couldn't. He wouldn't force Virgil into all of that if he didn't want it. "I'm fucked."

Roman groaned as he pulled over and just took a deep breath. He could feel his wolf curl up in him as the pain sparked through him. The alpha just tried to calm his breathing as he focused back on what he was doing. He was taking them home. Roman nodded as he slowly merged back onto the road calmer than he was before and turned on the music, keeping it low so his love could rest.

They had been driving for about an hour now and Roman new they were close. They were only two towns over but... There was nothing but woods and private property for the most part. Private property. Roman frowned as he glanced over for just a split second and sighed. His father's property actually. He missed it but... he loved his pack and he was very happy with his small town of Madson. Especially now that his mate was there too...

And here we are back on that again. Roman growled as he tapped his fingers against the steering wheel. Virgil Dean... His mate... his partner. The very man he's meant to spend the rest of forever with. He already loved him so much. It's hard not to. Virgil had this way about him. He was caring but sarcastic... snippy but soft. Virgil could and had made him, another alpha, cower under his presence but yet... lulled so softly like a mother to a frightened child when he was consoling Remus through the phone. It was so hard not to love him. Roman couldn't have even if he tried. It just wasn't possible...

... but he might never get the chance to.

Roman tensed up feeling that wash of calm come over him, making him snap up in surprise. He glanced over to see this strained look in Virgil's sleeping features and he frowned. Roman could feel him. He knew that. His eyes glanced through the rearview meeting with the empty air in the back and he smiled feeling that rush of calm slowly turn into a feeling of caring concerned.

"I'm ok, Virgil." Roman sighed softly as he refocused his attention onto the road. "Don't worry about me. You should be rest though... you can't exactly rest if you're mind is... active. Isn't using your gift... draining?"

"I wouldn't really know." Virgil chuckled softly from where he was sitting in the back. He never really had any control over his dreams... or gift as Roman called it. He just went where ever it took him. "It still amazes me that you even know I'm here."

"You're intrigued." Virgil's eyes went wide as Roman laughed. "Sorry, It's just... I can feel it a bit. My gift... I can sense things. Aura's, emotions, just things in general... It's like my intuition is that of damn near psychic abilities. It's hard to explain." Virgil leaned closer with this look of awe in his eyes as Roman hummed a bit. "You want to know more... Ok. Well... Alpha's they all have gifts. A power that helps them to protect his or her pack. The second in command... their Beta also has a gift. It's usually something small that can help their alpha. My beta... Logan. He has this super-intellect. His brain works at a speed much faster than even a computer sometimes. It's amazing the things he can work through in seconds. And because of that he's super observant and can poke holes into literally anything just by looking at it. It's so cool. Honestly, sometimes I'm a bit jealous."

"Dramatic like always." Virgil joked only to burst out laughing as Roman gasped suddenly with this sparkle in his eyes.

"I don't know what you just said but I swear It felt like I was just insulted."

"And your offended Princey noises are only proving me right!" Roman grumbled playfully under his breath as Virgil leaned even closer staring at the man in the front through the rearview mirror. "Hey, Roman?" Roman met his eyes, despite Virgil knowing he couldn't actually see him. His real body was fast asleep in the passenger seat. "When... When you call me your mate... do you actually mean it?" Roman's eyes narrowed feeling this intense anxiety wash over him. Whatever Virgil was curious about was also scary to him and he didn't really like knowing Virgil was so afraid.

"Hu... Virgil, I can't actually hear you to know what you're worried about." Virgil frowned as he leaned back against the seat with a pout making Roman frown feeling this disappointment almost... sadness. "Why don't you ask me when you wake up?"

"I'm too scared to. I just... Roman, I don't understand what it means to be someone's mate. I don't know why it's so important." Virgil hugged himself as he stared out of the window just waiting for this 'dream' to be over. "All I do know is that what I feel with you... the way your scent affects me... I didn't have that with him. But... Even though things are different I can't help but think it doesn't actually mean anything and that it's just another ploy... Roman, he wanted me as his mate too." Roman's eyes went wide as his wolf suddenly lurched in anger. He didn't quite understand why he was suddenly so pissed off but he knew Virgil must have said something. "He tried to make his mate... Said he loved me. Tried to... I don't even know what he was doing just that It felt wrong like it wasn't supposed to be him and I freaked out. I know... You haven't done a thing to prove you are anything but the kind person you've shown me to be but... I can't just stop worrying about it. Why am I so special? Why am I your mate?  There has to be some kind of an explanation other then... the universe said so, because... then... what made you and your... claim on me any different than his?"

"Virgil?" Virgil's eyes snapped up and he froze seeing the tears trailing down Roman's cheeks. The other alpha frowned as he wiped them away with an almost confused look before he sighed and turned back to the road. "I don't know what you just said. I can't hear it... I can't see you... I don't have a gift that allows me to but... whatever it was..."

"Roman, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry. Please... I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry too." Virgil froze up as Roman squeezed the steering wheel tightly. "I'm sorry that... me being your mate is so upsetting, but it's ok. I'll be ok. You just focus on you and your pack... I'll focus on mine."
