The day waiting for the Yule ball had passed by so fast. It was like that cold night. Except they were out in the open and she was with a different crowd.
Beside her was Junhoe, but he's pretty much occupied with a girl Lumi knew too well he had his eyes on for a long time. She felt the shivers like it was just yesterday as their voices echoed by her ear.
"We warned her already... "
'"What a pity..."
It felt so disheartening the moment she went back with her friends that time. She scratched her knees and wept, but only received daggered looks as ice.
They knew all this time but they still let me.
Even saying ill rumors towards Junhoe out of spat.
They all knew...
Only tonight was different. No cringing bawling coming from herself. She didn't feel any stabbing thoughts linger towards Nayeon as she and Jihoon are beside each other.
If anything, Lumi felt the nervousness of the older male reverberating across the room as they danced. His keen smile and awkward glances towards the crowd and back at Nayeon relieved her in a way.
Also, the crowd she was in tonight felt less suffocating.
That is to say the least before for a few minutes stops now that she shared looks from her former group of friends.
That's when the atmosphere dropped below zero degrees. And it wasn't at all because of all the ice and snow of the Yule Ball.
Why am I even still caught up on everything that had happened?
The crowded Great Hall appeared alarming as minutes passed, seemingly drowning Lumi as she stood in place around the winter-themed ball. If it weren't for Raine to tap her out of her trance, she wouldn't be returned back down to her feet. She let out the sigh she didn't know she was holding in, not until the bright presence of her friends illuminated around the room, in contrast to the snowy scenery of their warm faces.
She should calm down. Let them off her system already.
The way Seungkwan held her by the other side seemed grounding too though as he gave her a smile.
"I told you it's a great decision for you to attend the Ball, Lumi." Seungcheol flashed his gummy smile at the younger, to which Lumi quickly regained some color back on her face. "Who said about me ditching it?"
For once though, she chose to attend because she wanted to, and because for her friends.
This night is certainly different, it's easier to breathe.
"I just figured since you seem out of it lately, but I knew you wouldn't resist this guy as your date." As Seungcheol gave a playful wiggle to both his brows, that's when Lumi gave him a hit blow by his shoulders. He just laughed when he also received a wry look from Raine and Seungkwan.
"Come on, hyung! Don't ruin the atmosphere with your lame vibe." He rolled his eyes at the older but Seungcheol seemed more teasing now as he pulled the younger lad by the dance floor. This didn't end with just that as he tagged Raine along with him. Seungcheol holds on to Lumi as well that she doesn't have any other choice but to get carried along with their weight.
The energy of the crowd seemed to simmer down as the main program had preceded them. It's now their free time to roam around and enjoy the rest of the evening; dancing and prancing with their dates and mates.
Lumi abruptly stops from swaying though, feeling a bit nauseous. To be honest, Lumi had been spacing in and out since sundown. She can't keep up with crowded spaces much and the last time she was in this kind of atmosphere...
