I didn't see Esta for the next couple of weeks due to promotional TV and radio spots for our fourth album. I texted with her nearly every day, though. She had requested that I force her to stay in contact and be a good friend. It wasn't difficult to do.
When we got back, I let her know and she greeted me with movies and junk food. We spent two days with our phones off, snuggled up on opposite ends of the couch, binge watching River Phoenix movies that she insisted I needed to watch. Most of them were pretty good.
The day before the party, she knocked on my door. "Niall! It's an emergency!"
I ran to open the door, panicked. "What's wrong?"
"I need help finding something to wear tonight!" She said, grabbing my hand and dragging me across the hall and into her apartment.
"What? That's your emergency?" I asked, bewildered.
"Uhh, yeah, Niall. It's every girl's emergency when she has to get ready for a party. Duh."
"Oh for god sake. You're a pretty girl. You'd look great wrapped in a garbage bag."
She stopped, let go of me and looked back at me. "Remind me to never piss you off. I get the feeling my dead body is going to end up in a garbage bag one day because of you."
"Oh, whatever."
She laughed before grabbing my hand again and dragging me into her bedroom. "Okay, you sit," she said, pushing me down onto her bed. "I have a couple of outfits in mind and I need your opinion."
"Shouldn't you have Danielle or Kendall or any other girl help you out with this?" I asked.
"Oh, they will. But, I want to attempt to be on top of things so as not to be late. This is my first album launch party, Niall. So, please, help me out?" She gave me sad eyes and a pouty lower lip. "Pretty please?"
"Of course, I will," I said, unable to say no to that adorable face.
"Great! Be right back!"
She walked into her closet and shut the door. When she came back out she was wearing a red dress that flared out at the waist, landing just above her knees.
"That's pretty," I said.
"Just pretty?"
I shrugged, "I don't know. Yeah, it's a pretty dress and you look pretty in it."
"Okay, axing this one." She said, as she shut the door.
A few more minutes went by when she opened the door again, this time coming out in a slightly tighter dark purple dress that fell to just above her knees.
"I like that. Purple looks good on you."
"What word would you use to describe this? Your first thought that popped into your head when I walked out."
"First thought, is that I like that one more than the red."
She rolled her eyes at me. "You really are bad at this."
"I told you!" She shut the door again.
"I want honest opinions, Niall!"
"I already told you you'd look great in anything."
She tried on several more dresses each looked good on her, as I repeatedly told her. I was laying back on her bed, waiting for her to try on yet another dress when I heard a knock on her door.
"Niall, can you get that. It should be Kendall and Danielle."
"Thank god!"
"I heard that!"
I laughed as I made my way to the door to open it and saw both girls outside waiting. "Did we accidentally knock on your door, Niall?" Danielle asked.
"No. You're in the right place and you're saving me. She's in there, trying on her entire closet." They walked past me and to the direction I pointed. "Tell her I'll see her at the party. I've got to get my own self ready and over to the venue."
"Will do. Bye, Niall." Kendall said.

Later that night, the boys and I celebrated the release of our new album, Four. We sang several songs and talked about the process of the album and all that jazz. Once we were done with what we needed to do, we were allowed to actually enjoy the party ourselves.
When I entered the dance floor, I looked around and saw a few familiar faces. I saw Danielle and Louis standing at the bar so I made my way over to them.
"Congrats, Niall!" Danielle said, giving me a hug.
"Thanks. Glad to see at least one of you made it out of that apartment alive," I said, laughing a little.
"We all did, silly. We got her all straightened out and she looks gorgeous."
"I'm sure she does. I told her she would."
"Yeah, she said you said something about a garbage bag." Danielle laughed after she said that but jokingly punched my arm so I knew she was indeed, joking around with me.
"So where is she? I want to know what she thought," I said, looking around but it was way too crowded.
"Um, she was with Kendall a few minutes ago on the dance floor."
"Oh, okay. Cool." I got handed a drink and turned around to face the dance floor. I eventually saw Kendall but not Esta. "Oh well. I'll find her eventually," I said to myself. Not thinking about it too much.
A bit of time went by and I still hadn't come across her. "Esta's looking for you," Liam said, coming up to me.
"She is?"
"Yeah, I was just dancing with her way on the other side. She asked how much longer you'd be backstage because she hadn't seen you yet."
"I've been out here for probably thirty minutes or so," I said.
"Well, she's been in that corner. Zayn had grabbed her hand and started dancing with her when I left a second ago."
"Oh okay. Guess I'll see if I can find her."
Liam picked up the drink he had ordered and I followed him back to where everyone else was. When we got there, Harry and Louis were talking while Kendall and Danielle were dancing together next to them.
"Hey, where's Esta?" Liam asked. "I found Niall."
"Oh, um, I don't know where she went. Toilet, maybe?" Harry said.
"Ugh, speaking of which, I need to go," I said. "Everyone stay put, so I can find you all again," I said, laughing as I walked off in the direction of the bathroom.
When I turned the corner, I found Esta. I also found Zayn. His hands were resting on her hips, while her arms were wrapped around his neck. His lips very much attached to hers.
