When we got back to Hanoi, we had all pretty much rested enough that we all decided to go experience some of the nightlife the city had to offer.
I allowed Esta to get a shower first, knowing it would probably take her longer to get ready than it would me. She was doing her makeup when I got out of the shower.
"You don't need that, Esta. You're beautiful without it," I said.
"I know I don't need it. Not doing that much. Just a little eyeliner and mascara, is all."
"Good. Don't cover up your freckles. I don't think I realized how many freckles you had on your nose and cheeks."
"Yeah, the sun tends to bring them out a little more."
"They're cute."
I looked over at her and saw her smile. "Okay, I'm done. Gonna go toss my clothes on." She grabbed her outfit and went back into the bathroom. She walked right back out. "Nevermind, I'll wait. A bit steamy in there."
"Yeah, sorry, hot shower."
"No worries."
She stood there by the bathroom door for a few minutes. I was about to start dressing when I realized she was staring. Blushing, I said, "You gonna watch me?"
She shook herself out of her revelry and said, "Oh, sorry, didn't realize I was staring. Will turn around."
She turned around and went back into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. I heard her toss the clothes she had on to the floor and more rustling as she got dressed.
I threw on some jeans and a dark blue button up shirt. It was the nicest thing I had brought with me. Spraying on some cologne, I smelled myself and deemed it good enough.
I heard the door to the bathroom open and she walked out, wearing a sparkly, incredibly low cut romper. Her hair was down and the little mascara and eyeliner she had put on looked great. Her freckles standing out perfectly. Her tanned legs looking longer than usual.
"Well, look at you," she said, coming up to me. "Looking all cute and shit."
I blushed, smiling and looking down, unable to look her in the face. "Thanks."
I ran some gel through my hair and messed around with it in the mirror until I felt it was satisfactory. Everyone else knocked on our door, ready to go.
We made our way to the Old Quarter and found some amazing food to try before heading to some local club we had been told about.
Walking in, the music pulsed through the walls and starting pulsing through my veins. I ordered the first round of drinks for us all. After one more round, we all kind of dispersed. I went to the restroom and when I came out I couldn't find Esta. Looking around, I found her on the dance floor, dancing by herself. I watched her for a while until I no longer could and my feet took me over to her.
The alcohol coursing through me, I came up behind her and placed my hands on her hips, pulling her into me. She opened her eyes, peering over her shoulder to see who had started dancing with her. The smile that appeared on her face sent my heart racing. She closed her eyes again, pressing herself closer to me as she laid her head back against my chest while she raised one of her arms to lace around my neck. My breath began to get hitched in my throat and came out rather shaky as she placed her other hand over mine.
We danced for I don't even know how long. I wasn't paying much attention, my focus solely on her and the way she was moving her body against mine. At some point, she suddenly let go of me and spun around. For a moment, my heart dropped to my stomach, thinking she was done, but instead she brought her arms up and wrapped them around my neck. One of her hands began playing with my hair as she pressed herself closer to me.
Looking up at me, she moved her body to the beat of the song. I don't know if it was the alcohol or the music or the way she looked at me, but it was then that I knew she felt the same way about me. As if to confirm the conclusion I had just drawn, she stood up on her toes and pressed her lips to mine. I instantly forgot where I was, consumed in this moment I had been dreaming about for the last several months. My hands gripped her waist as her tongue grazed across my bottom lip. I instinctively opened my mouth, allowing her tongue to sweep across mine. I tasted the alcohol that tinged it.
Coming to my senses, I remembered that we both had had several drinks. I wouldn't say I was drunk more tipsy, if anything else, but I didn't know about her. I didn't know whether or not she had anything else to drink while I had been in the back.
Despite my heart screaming at me to not stop, my head did. Begrudgingly, I pulled away from her and stared down at her trying to discern if she was aware of what she was doing.
She smiled up at me. My heart stopped. She was definitely tipsy but I had seen her far worse off. She wasn't drunk by any means. But I still couldn't tell if she was thinking clearly.
I let my hands drop from her waist. She slowly let go of me, allowing her arms to drop. The expression on her face changed from one of content to one of confusion. She started to look around nervously and backed away from me. She turned to walk away.
Realizing that she thought she had made a mistake, I reached out for her before the crowd could envelope her and without a second thought, pulled her back to me, stooping down to crash my lips back on to hers.
Pressing her further into me, her arms traced their way back up my chest where one hand ran across my shoulder blade while she tangled her fingers in my hair with the other. I let go of her waist and brought my hands up to her face, pressing them against her cheeks as we kissed. The moment I had been wanting for months was happening and I couldn't get enough of it.
The best part - it was so much better than I could have ever imagined.
