Severus helped you to your feet and wiped away what was left of your tears. You smiled at him, he was the first person to ever show you such kindness and loyalty.

"Thank you, Severus."

He nodded solemnly and nudged you towards the door.

"We will wait a few more hours and then head to her office. Surely she would hide them there."

"A few hours?! That would be plenty of time for her to copy the letters and send them to the ministry?! Why can't we just go now??!!"

"Because... f/n, if we go now she will still be there. I have been keeping a close watch on her schedule. Let's see... its 7 pm, yes. She should leave her office by 9:30pm, then we strike."

You looked at him in awe.

"I didn't realize you were keeping that close of an eye on her?" You asked him.

"Ever since the troll incident, I have made it a habit to know where she is. I'm not going to let her get the jump on me... or you, again." He replied calmly.

Another smile spread across your face.

"Well... what are we to do in the meantime?" You asked him playfully.

He arched an eyebrow at you, a thoughtful expression forming.

"We could go back to my chambers and have a few shots of fire whiskey?"

"Fire whiskey? A guilty pleasure of yours, for sure. Severus, you know I don't handle alcohol very well," You laughed.

You thought for a moment.

"Why not? We have nothing else to do and I suppose I could use a shot of courage."

He beamed at you. Taking your hand in his, he led you down to his chambers.

"Here you go, madam." He said cooly after pouring you both a drink.

"To finding those letters and getting back at Umbridge."

"Yes! Here, here! Cheers!"

The two of you clinked your glasses and downed the burning liquid.

"Another?" He asked you.

You handed him the shot glass, concentrating on the warmness filling your belly.

Time passed aimlessly, while you both did many more shots, until the bottle was empty.

"Is that... all that's left?" You stupored over slightly.

"Yeah, I'm afraid it is." He drawled.

"Shame..." you replied a little confused.

Severus stumbled over to you, snaking his hands around your waist. He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on your lips. The whiskey still present on his lips, along with the candlelight, made the atmosphere feel romantic. You rested your head on his chest whilst the two of you swayed back and forth, as if music was playing.

When you looked up at the clock, it read 10:00pm.

"Shit! Severus, it's 10?! C'mon we need to go!"

You both fumbled around for a moment, gathering yourselves, then headed out of the classroom.

The two of you walked quickly down the hallways and up to Umbridge's office. The candles on the wall lighting your way.

Reaching her office, you checked to see if there was anyone lurking around. There was no light shining underneath the door, so you assumed that she had finally left.

You inched closer, reaching for the doorknob, when you drew back quickly. A shadow danced around underneath and on the door.

You jerked around, only to see Severus standing right behind you looking from side to side, keeping watch. You realized that the candles on the wall had cast his shadow on the door, scaring you.

"Your shadow scared me?!" You hissed at him.

"Sorry."

Turning back to the door, you tried the handle.

Locked.

Pulling out your wand, you whispered, "Alohomora."

A clicking noise came from the door and it opened slightly.

"C'mon, lets go." You murmured to Severus.

It was very dark in Umbridge's office, especially without the candles she normally had lit. There wasn't even a window.

Holding your wand upwards, you said another charm.

"Lumos."

A small light emitted from the end of your wand, lighting up the room.

You crept towards her desk, scanning for anything that could possibly give you away.

Not finding anything, you reached for one of the drawers. Pulling it open, you searched its contents, finding nothing but a few quills, some ink, and a couple of pieces of spare parchment.

You repeated this with the rest of the drawers, still not finding what you were looking for.

"Where could they be?"

"What's this?"

You looked up at Severus, he was standing next to a statue of the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. It was actually sort of odd to see a bust sitting along the edge of the room. It seemed out of place...

Severus pulled out his wand and murmured something that you couldn't hear.

Suddenly, the bust shifted on its own. It turned clockwise, then sunk revealing a small compartment. Within the compartment were your letters.

"Aha! I knew she had them!"

You reached in quickly to snatch your letters, not wanting to waste any time.

As you did so, a blazing pain shot through your hand. You jerked yourself backwards away from it, trying not to scream, and fell to the ground on your butt. Your hand was becoming very red and blistery, as if it had been burned.

"She must have put a defensive charm around it. No one can reach its contents without harming themselves," Severus told you.

"Well we need to get those letters. If we don't, who knows what she will do?"

You got up, wincing as you did so. Determined, you reached in again and grasped the letters as best you could. The blazing pain that shot through you again was horrendous. Teeth clenched, you pulled the letters out of the container.

"I can't believe you just did that." Severus looked at you, his eyes wide.

"I had to. It was the only way." You said, looking down at your now severely burnt hand.

"Well, let's get back to my office. I'm sure I have a potion that will help with the pain and blistering."

Sighing of relief, you began the decent to the dungeons.
