Severus Snape x Reader

A New Friend

The remainder of the night was filled with dreams of the beautiful forest that you had seen your father in, but this time Severus accompanied you.

You smiled, eyes closed. For once, reality was becoming much better than your dreams.

The birds chirping outside the windows to the medical wing told you that it was now morning.

Opening your eyes, yawning, you looked at the clock on the wall.

"8 o'clock, hmm... I probably need to get ready for today's lesson, Merlin... when was the last day that I taught?" You thought to yourself confused.

Your thoughts were soon interrupted however by Severus strolling towards you, holding a tray in his hands.

"Good morning, dear. I brought you breakfast."

He placed the tray gingerly on the small bedside table. You noticed a glass of orange juice and a small plate that had scrambled eggs and some fruit on it, looking up at Severus, you smiled.

"Breakfast in bed? I could get used to this." You giggled.

"As much as I would love to provide you breakfast in bed every morning, I'm afraid it won't be possible all the time. I am a busy man you know..." he laughed, arching his brow at you.

"Oh, believe me, I know. I do appreciate it though, thank you!"

You grabbed the plate and began to devour the food before you, surprised at how hungry you were. Even Severus had a somewhat shocked expression on his face as you wolfed every last morsel down.

"Remind me to bring more next time. When was the last time that you ate?"

Swallowing the last bite, you looked back up at him.

"Umm.. let me think for a moment... probably 1 to 2 days ago. I honestly don't remember."

"Do you want me to get you some more then?" He asked you seriously.

"No, I'm fine for right now. Thank you though."

He smiled at you and sat on the edge of the bed.

"You don't have to teach today if you don't want to... I'm sure I can tell Remus to take over for you, if you want."

You looked at him, puzzled.

"Who's Remus? And why would he be teaching my class?"

"Oh, that's right, you don't know yet... Remember when Albus told you that someone was coming to help you teach DADA? Well, he brought in Remus Lupin. Though, I told him it wasn't a very good idea considering that.. Er.. Remus's past and all. But, he insisted."

You thought for a few more moments before answering.

"As amazing as a day off sounds, I really do need to get out of this bed. I just want things to go back to normal, you know?"

Severus reached over and grabbed your hand, holding it delicately in his.

"I understand. Do you want to head back to your quarters now or wait a while longer?"

"Now would be best, I think."

"Very well, let me help you up."

He placed his hands on your sides as you moved to stand up. A small jolt of pain went through your back, but it didn't last long.

You assumed it was because of laying in bed and not moving. It did make you wince a little though and Severus noticed.

"Are you okay? Do you want to lay back down?" He asked concerned.
