The girls returned to Hogwarts and soon found out that two more people had been petrified, Justin-Finch Fletchley and Nearly headless Nick. Everyone now had started suspecting Harry over Yvette because during the dueling club he had spoken parseltongue and apparently was "caught red handed" when found at the scene of the crime.

Clarissa was taking a walk down the corridors when she ran into no other than Malfoy. "Have you heard, everyone thinks it's Potter who opened the chamber but I think it's Yvette so watch your back," Malfoy sneered "Why should I watch my back? Yvette is my best friend," Clarissa said, determined not to let Malfoy get to her. "You think she would actually be friends with a pathetic little half-blood like you!" He said smirking. "Yes, I do actually," Clarissa said calmly. "Well let me tell you something Daniels, when all the mudbloods are dead you will be next I'm sure of it," Malfoy said quietly so no one would hear. "Why?" Clarissa asked considering possibilities. "Because she thinks that you are lying to her." Malfoy said. "Lying to her about what?" Clarissa said, Malfoy was making harsh accusations at this point. "That you are her best friend, you and I both know that you are only friends with her for popularity, because at your old school you didn't have many friends did you?" Malfoy taunted. "How could you accuse something like that!" Clarissa spluttered. "Well, that's what Yvette thinks, she will probably go for your mudblood friend Avery too," Malfoy said smirking then walking off. "How do you know about Avery being muggle-born, how do you even know about her anyway!" Clarissa shouted after him. "I have connections," Malfoy said knowing that he had made Clarissa question her friendship with Yvette.

Clarissa started heading back to the common room tense. She wasn't stupid and could sense the tension between Yvette and Avery while they were meeting but she was sure they had become sort of friends. It also didn't make sense how she got to the school while at Clarissa's house she had never disappeared or anything. However, Clarissa still had her doubts. "Hey Mouse," George said when she entered the common room. Clarissa slightly acknowledged them before briskly walking up to her dorm room.

"What's up with her?" Lee asked. "Dunno maybe she talked to Ella about her boyfriend or something," Yvette said not really bothered. "Why would that make her sad?" Fred asked. "Because she has a crush on Ella you dingbat," Yvette said slapping him. "Oh yeah, forgot about that," Fred said rubbing his arm.

Clarissa didn't come down from her dorm room all day and was "asleep" when Yvette came in.

~the morning~

Clarissa had come out of her dorm room nice and early that morning ad waited down stairs on the common room. The boys soon entered and were surprised to see that Clarissa was already down but they all waited for Yvette. "Where the frick were you?" Yvette asked obviously pissed. "I'm sorry but you were taking too long didn't know I had to wait on you every move, your highness," Clarissa snapped back walking away in the direction of the great hall. Yvette stood shocked, Clarissa was never one to snap and she had only seen her do so on bullies and such like Malfoy. What did that mean she was? Yvette ran ahead to catch up with Clarissa, "Hey Mouse I'm sorry," Yvette said. "Did Lee put you up the that?" Clarissa said, suggesting Yvette's apology wasn't genuine. "No, I'm sorry I'm not a nice person all of the time but I care about my friends, meaning I care about you," Yvette said in disbelief. "Sure, sure," Clarissa said sitting down at the Gryffindor table. Clarissa didn't take any food, which was a first for Yvette she always claimed to be hungry, this meant something was definitely up.

Malfoy then approached the Gryffindor table whispering,"remember what I said," in Clarissa's ear. "Shut up Malfoy, you blonde git," She snapped at him. Malfoy just chuckled walking towards the Slytherin table. "What did he tell you?" Yvette asked accusingly everyone knew Malfoy always twisted things to fit his benefit. "Nothing of importance," Clarissa said. "Mouse, please it is all just a bunch of lies you know it," Yvette said trying to be comforting, that was never her strong point. "Exactly, that is why it is nothing of importance," Clarissa said getting up to leave. Yvette got up as well. "What do you want Yvette?" Clarissa snapped. Everyone's eyes were on them and Malfoy had a large smirk on his face. Yvette snarled. She then grabbed Clarissa's arm and pulled her out of the great hall.

"What did he tell you?" Yvette asked harsher this time. "Like I said nothing of importance," Clarissa said. "Clarissa why do you always have to do things alone, you can tell me this stuff that's what friends are for!" Yvette said exasperated. "It's easier to do things alone," Clarissa said looking down. "No, it's not I would know," Yvette said her voice much quieter now. "No, Yvette you have no idea!" Clarissa shouted, "You don't have a clue what it's like to be lonely!" Yvette looked shocked while the tears were running down Clarissa's face. "Yes I do, I was lonely before I came here," Yvette said. "Your so ignorant Yvette, there are two types of loneliness one where there is no one to be with, what you experienced and the other where there are people, they just don't want to be with you," Clarissa said. "Oh," Yvette said looking down. "That's why my worst fear is loneliness because I know what it feels like and it is the worst thing in the world." Clarissa said. "I'm sorry, " Yvette said hugging her.

"What did Malfoy say though?" Yvette asked. "He uh said that you opened the chamber and were going to come for me and Avery next," Clarissa said looking down. "How could you believe that nonsense!" Yvette said her anger flashing back through her. "I'm sorry but I knew you didn't like Avery so it actually made sense," Clarissa said. "Your dumber than I thought!" Yvette snapped walking away fuming.
