We went in and out of couple boutiques, and none of the dress they showed me passed my standards. It was sure expensive, and beautiful, but still.

"There was a last boutique at the other side, Jade. I hope your standards were there." Mom sighed disappointly. Maybe she was tired, though.

"If you're tired, we could—" I trailed off.

"No," she jolted up. "When is this dance, anyway?" She walked ahead of me.

I tapped my chin. When was this anyway? I dialed Chloe and Yasmin's numbers to confirm the dance schedule.

It's at Friday. How come you forgot it already?

Chloe's message came in. Oh, yeah. On Friday. I only had 6 or less more days.

On Friday, Jadey. I thought you were ready for it? Hehe XD

Yasmin's message came in after a couple of seconds after Chloe's message came.

"It's Friday, mom." We headed inside a teen shop. We wandered around while mother was guided by the saleslady.

We ended up at a small aisle where there were cute gowns and dresses. And there was only a gown that caught my attention.

[Author's note: the dress/gown above there was the gown that caught Jade's eyes.]

"Mom! I found it!" I pointed the gown at the racks. "Look," she turn around and saw what I was pointing.

"Oh, Jade," she sighed, walking excitedly towards the gown. "This is perfect." She took it and placed it in front of me. "It looks better in you."

Mom wanted to say something, but I saw someone making their way towards us. So I quickly grabbed mom to the nearest dressing room.

"What's with the hurry, Jade?" Asked mom, a little bit panting. "I could've trip over the dress," she mumbled, putting the gown on the rack so I could try it on.

"I think someone was going to—" I was cut off with a frustration cry. Okay, it wasn't really a cry, it was a short scream from the outside world of the dress room.

"Someone took it! I wanted it!" Someone frustrationally said. Throwing tantrums, aren't we?

"Honey, she got it first. We'll look for something even better." Consoled by someone.

I finished trying out the gown and mom stepped out. I heard someone grasped, and it felt quiet. I stepped out and found the atmosphere really awkward.

I mean, bumping to your husband's wife was really awkward. Then there was it, mom and dad's first family was in front of us. So it was Jhel who wanted the gown, too.

"Lorelei." The woman breathed out, calmly. She was aweatruck. Jhel looked completelt clueless about what was happening in front of her. All she knew was this was my mother, and I got the gown first. Her mother's eyes were starting to fill with tears.

"Janna?" Mom said plainly. Maybe because she loved dad that much and didn't want them to have what they, pretty much didn't have anymore.

"Can we talk?" It was, I assumed, Janna's first sentece that took me out of my shell. She wanted to talk to mom? About what? Begging her to give dad back? No way.

I wanted to protest, but mom simply said, "Yes, we can." It was a calm response, but what if deep inside, she was crying in pain? I mean, if I was in her shoes, I would be. Who wouldn't, anyway? Would bumping to the first family of your husband crush you to death? Yes. It will.

But your mother is strong.

Who cares if she was strong? Every woman has a deep emotional tank down there. And whether you like it or not, it will leak endlessly.

"Honey, it's alright," mom told me, rubbing my arm. No, it wasn't alright. I wanted to scold her for what she just did, but when I looked in her eyes. I saw that she really need it. For what? "Please," she pleaded, begging was obvious in her tone.

"Fine," I sighed disappointedly. Mom paid the gown and waited outside while Jhel looked for something she wanted.

After a couple of minutes, they exited and met us. Good thing Jhel saw her friend or else, I would spend the whole time with her. It would be really awkward, and besides, I dislike her.

I kissed mom and went away, I don't want to stay too close to Janna, too. I felt the same dislike feeling I had with her daughter. What can I do? Like mother, like daughter. But mom wasn't like me, or I wasn't like her. She didn't see Janna the way I see her. Matured people, weren't they? If they were teenagers, they would make a scheme in front of everyone because of the man they both loved. Pretty clichè.

I reached the middle part of the mall and I found it very familiar. I looked around and spotter Ethan's smoothie shop. Yep, I've been here before. It's just we enrered the other way.

"Want Chocolate Mouse or Triple Chocolate or Dark Chocolate?"

I turned and saw Ethan holding up a mini notebook with a pen. He smiled and sat in front of me.

"What's up, Jadey?" His smile disappeared when he examined me. "Something wrong?" He sympathically asked.

"Nothing more than meeting the other family," I boringly said. He seemed surprised, though. So I told him the whole story.

"So, Jhel? Seriously? The one who fell for Koby, too?" Asked Ethan. I just nodded. "What are you going to do about it?" He finally asked after a couple of minutes of silence.

"As long as they don't touch me, I will not harm them."
