The crowd of Luke's party had grown to immense sizes, dancing in front of the stage in extasy. By the looks of it, Luke had invited nearly the whole school. Good, I thought, the more witnesses, the better.

My heart slowly started to race when the critical song came up for us to play. It was Sk8er boi by Avril Lavigne, the perfect song for this situation.

I focused my eyes on Luke, who was looking back at me already, and winked. As the music set in, he nodded at the signal and turned back to Maddison, saying something to her before they left the crowd together.

I refused to admit it later on, but in my nervousness, I missed the first note but caught up with the lyrics quickly. Paul shot me a look.

"He was a boy, she was a girl,
Can I make it any more obvious?
He was a punk, she did ballet,
What more can I say?
He wanted her, she'd never tell,
Secretly she wanted him as well.
But all of her friends, stuck up their nose,
They had a problem with his baggy clothes.

He was a Sk8er boi,
She said see you later boy,
He wasn't good enough for her.
She had a pretty face,
But her head was up in space,
She needed to come back down to earth.

He was a Sk8er boi,
She said see you later boy,
He wasn't good enough for her.
She had a pretty face,
But her head was up in space,
She needed to come back down to earth."

After the second time singing the chorus, I flipped a switch with my foot, triggering a total breakdown off the stage electronics.

We had made a short wired circuit and, once disconnected from the power source, the lights went out, the mics stopped working, our electric guitars and keyboards stopped producing sounds although we played, and we all pretended that we were surprised as fuck.

It had taken some time to figure out how this would work, but right now it did perfectly and if I wasn't pretending tight panic right now, I would have smiled.

"You're up, dumbass." I whispered into the ear piece for Luke to hear and flipped the switch again, triggering another circuit reaction. All of a sudden, the speaker started to screech and Luke's voice boomed out.

"Maddie, I need to talk to you."

Loud gasps from the crowd were clearly audible and people started to whisper among each other. What was happening? I turned in pretend confusion and smiled smugly at the band as soon as I was out of sight for the crowd

"What do want to talk about, love?" Maddison's voice replied, the pet name rolling sickly sweet of her tongue. I pretended to gag towards the band.

"Do you, Maddison, do you love me?" Luke's voice sounded a little warped by the speakers and I strained to hear his tone.

"With whole my heart." She replied with so much fake emotion, making me actually want to gag.

"I'm breaking up with you." It came all of a sudden and his voice was ice cold, just like we practiced. I praised him mentally as he had had quite a problem controlling the emotions in his voice and not showing how her cheating had broken him.

"What?" Maddison snapped at him. "But, you can't, I love you! Why are we doing this? We were fine." Her voice suddenly turned vicious, as if the though had just entered her head. "It was that girl, Rebecca, she talked you into this, didn't she? She is the cause of all this!"

Heads suddenly turned in my direction. Seriously, since when did they even know my name? I'd always been the Rocker chick to them, no one actually bothered to learn what I was called. At least, that was what I thought, but apparently not.
