Lily's POV

I walked into the school grounds. Everyone was a little tense. I knew their thoughts. They were scared of Jamie. They don't understand. I sighed and walked to my locker. When I opened it, a note fell to the floor. I picked it up and unfolded it.

             Lily,

Hey. I miss you. I'll see you soon. I promise. I love you. You are so special to me. I am alright. I'm in hiding. It is safer for me this way. I will still be there for you.... I promise. Stay in school and go home. I will come find you in my own time.

                                                   See you soon love,

                                                               Toby

The note fell from my hands. I stood for a few minutes. Toby... TOBY!! I looked around, wanting to find him. Tears came to my eyes. I picked up the note. I need to listen to what Toby said... Listen to Toby. I put my bag in my locker and jogged to my class. Everyone including the teachers seemed shaken up. Everyone took it easy. It was mostly educational videos they showed us. When lunch rolled around, I just sat in the back of the room staring at my lunch. I heard some laughing and bodies walking towards me. I looked up. Jessica, Barley, and James stood there. I looked down. " Not today guys," I said. " Awww Does Lily feel scared?" Jessica asked. I looked back up at them. " Trust me guys. I'm not scared for my life, I'm scared for yours," I said, without thinking. " What do you mean by that?" Barley asked. I stared into her eyes. " Just trust me," I said, standing and walking away. " Get back here!" James yelled. I ran out of the room. I could hear their footsteps running after me. I quickly made a turn into the girl's locker room. I hid behind the door. They ran past me.

I quietly sighed and walked deeper into the locker room. I sat down on a bench in a corner, face in my hands. " Lily?" A voice said. I looked up. No one was there. " Up here silly," the voice said. I looked above me. Jamie was hanging on a beam. I smiled. " What are you doing here?" I asked. He dropped next to me. " Just checking on you," He said. I tilted my head. " In the girl's locker room?" I asked. He chuckled. " Not like that! I heard you run in here," he said. I smiled wider. " Well it's nice seeing you Jamie," I said. " yeah. I missed you," He said. I blushed a little. " Well I missed you to Jamie. You are my only friend here except for Amelia," I said. I then realized my words. It was like he read my mind. " Yes Lily. We are friends. No questions about it," He said. I giggled a little. " Good!" I said. The first warning bell went off. " Oh dang. Sorry Jamie. I'll see you at home. Okay?" I said. He nodded and quickly hugged me. I hugged back, then waved. " Bye Jamie!" I said and turned to walk out of the room.

Jamie's POV

I waved after her. Soon she was out of sight. I sighed and jumped up to the beams. I climbed to the hatch at the top of the building. I crawled out into the sunlight. I sighed happily and sat on the roof. I looked around. No one is really outside, even if they were, no one would see me. I walked onto another roof and then another. Soon I was in a spot in the woods I know as home. I climbed a tree and made it into my tree house. I made it with a friend long ago. It is still very sturdy. I sighed, sitting down on a chair. I slowly unhooked my mask, setting it down on the table next to me. I looked around. There was a mattress and blankets in one corner. In the middle, there was a table and chair. There is a cooler with food and water in it in another corner. I also have a stash of knives in a box near the door. There is a blue rug on the floor and a tiny bookshelf with fairy tales and science books on it. I smiled weakly. My friend would love science and so did I. That's one reason why we were such good friends. I loved learning about the mystery of the world. That was then. Now is now. I should get a little rest before I see Lily. I walked over to my air mattress. I set up my makeshift alarm and laid down, soon falling asleep.

Lily's POV

I walked out of the school quickly. I need to make sure none of the bullies follow me. With my luck, they found me... or at least Barley did. She grabbed me by my hair and dragged me behind the school where Jessica and James were. I whimpered as she threw me to the floor. I looked at them, fear in my eyes. They laughed, moving closer. I then realized that I don't need their bullshit. I growled and stood up. Jessica raised an eyebrow. " Get. Off," I said through gritted teeth. They laughed. " Or what?" James asked. I smirked. " Or daddy is going to find out your grades and how you cheat on every little thing," I said, putting my hands on my hips. His eyes widened. " You wouldn't. I would kill you," He said. " Or would I?" I said. Jessica and Barely ran at me, but a growl cut them off. I saw Jamie jump down down from the roof.

I saw everyone back up. I pretended to be a little scared so they wouldn't get suspicious. I backed up behind a tree, watching Jamie walk closer to them, pulling out his knife. " Leave. or else," Jamie said coldly, holding up his knife. They screamed and ran. When they were out of sight, Jamie and I started laughing. " Come on. Before the police come," I said. He nodded. I grabbed his hand and we ran through the trees to my apartment complex, smiles on our faces...
