Annabeth's POV
I finished my homework and I'm heading over to Rachel's to work on the musical.
I'll be back soon.
-Annabeth
Okay, so it wasn't a full lie. Watching the musical will help me prepare.
I wrote the letter to my father. That's how we communicate, most of the time. He was always at work, so I rarely saw him.
My step mom was in the living room with my brothers. They were on their devices and Helen was typing on here computer.
I walk passed them, without muttering so much as a goodbye. They weren't awful, but my brothers were obsessed with there games and they only got them on weekends. If it weren't Friday, they would have said goodbye. Helen doesn't look up from her computer when I pass either. I wonder what she's doing. I don't think she even has a job, yet she spends all her time on the computer.
I walk outside, where Will is waiting to pick me up. "Hey," I say, waving.
"Hey, Annie. We should be on our way, I was supposed to pick you up five minutes ago," he says. I get in his car and we drive to Rachel's. Her dad is super rich, so we decided to go there to watch the movie. She's got a movie room with all kinds of snacks. It's nice because we don't have to miss any thing if we want food.
We get to her house quickly, but we are definitely the last ones there. We run up to the door and Rachel opens it before we even knock.
"Hey!" she says, cheerfully. "We're just getting set up." She leads us to where everyone else is sitting. There were four seats open. Rachel and Will sat next to each other in the front row, of four. I say in the back with an open seat on one side of me and Thalia was sitting on my left. I look around the room to see who's missing. "By the way, Nico's not here today. He had something to do. I don't really know."
The only person not in the room is none other than Percy Jackson.
He came in from the bathroom seconds after I realized it was him who I'd be sitting next to. He smiled immediately and sat down on my right.
"Hey, Beth," he says.
"I hate it when you call me that," I grumble.
Percy chuckles. "That's why I do it." I smile.
"Okay, the shows starting!" Katie says. She's sitting next to Connor, he's sitting next to Travis.
We all go silent as the audience begins to cheer. The first song starts and I see Percy make a face. "This is the first song? It sounds a little cheery," he whispers to me.
"You have to get passed that. Plus, I swear, it grows on you," I say, slightly laughing.
"Maybe."
A few minutes pass, and Serious finishes. "That guys awful," Will says. The girls and I agree, plus a few of the boys.
"Why? He just broke up with her," Percy points out.
"Yeah, it's a normal part of life," Jason points out.
"Oh, no. You'll see he's a dick soon," I say.
"Just wait until Harvard," Katie says. "He totally slut-shames her."
"Y'all've seen this way to many times," Leo says, under his breath.
"Fuck you," I say, holding up my middle finger at him. He's the row in front of me, so when he turns to me I can see his face decently well.
"I know you want to," he jokes. I push him, playfully.
"In your dreams, lover boy." We both laugh.
"You wound me," he says, holding his heart. I open my mouth to say a snarky remark, Rachel cuts is off.
"Guys, just watch." We all listen and sit quietly.
"Ha, you've got to learn all that," Percy tells me, quietly, during What You Want.
I make a face. "Yeah, it's not fair that you don't have to dance, like, at all."
"It's gonna be great," he says. "You're gonna be great." I blush and twirl my hair on the tip of my fingers.
"I know," I say.
"Okay, your flirting is adorable, but just watch the dam musical," Thalia says.
"Shut up, Pinecone Face," Percy says and I blushed.
I was weird. Flirting was second nature to me and I did it as a joke with almost every guy I met. I never blushed when I did. I never blushed when flirting. Ever.
We watch the musical, but my mind keeps wandering to me blushing. For some reason that makes me blush more.
"I really love Paulette," Hazel says, laughing. Most of us are, but Hazel is just dying over in her seat.
"So, what's she got that you don't? Three boobs?" I say with the actress playing Paulette. She's just amazing.
"She serious," Rachel ask to the back, with Elle.
Then all of the girls say, "Seriously, does she have three boobs?" Then we all burst out laughing. For the whole musical is filled with moments like this. Everyone who knows it quotes some iconic lines and we all laugh.
"Christian Borle can wear the hell out of suit," I say, chewing on a handful of popcorn. A few others murmur words of agreement.
"That's the best part," I murmur, with Elle. That's one of my favorite lines in the play. It's one of the sweetest parts. I don't say it loud enough for everyone to hear, but I think Percy does. Sometime during the musical, we moved the armrest and I lended my head against his chest.
He looks down at me and pushes a strand of my hair behind my ear. "You'll be a great Elle," he murmurs.
"Thanks, you'll be a great Emmett, too," I say in a low voice.
"Do you think I'll be as good as, what did you say his name was, Christian Borle?" Percy asks, a little louder than a whisper so the others could hear him to.
"Nah, no one can," I say.
"Wow, rude," he says.
"She right," Will says. The others join in and Percy's left defending himself about being great.
"This is your fault," Percy tells me.
I shrug and smile. "I know."
"I can't believe him. Callahan is awful," Jason says.
"And Warner didn't even try to hear her out. He was a cocky, asshole. He wrote her off as just a slut. He didn't even care about Elle, even Vivian was nicer," Percy says. Frank, Leo, and the Stolls throwout insults about them, too. The boys throw popcorn at the screen and we laugh.
"I told you," I say. We talk about how awful they all are, and Piper even tries to defend Warner. It's not until Legally Blonde Remix starts that we shut up and really listen.
"Emmett is great," I say. "Actually, everyone is."
"Except, Callahan and Warner," Leo says. It made me laugh how into the show all the boys had gotten.
After the party, the boys kept yelling at the people on the screen. It was adorable.
