Annabeth's POV
I don't know why I decided to ride with Percy. It was truly stupid. If Will sees us, he might get upset, plus rumors will spread! This is awful.
As soon as we pull up to the school I get out of the car. There are a lot of glares, but I ignore them and run inside to my friends.
Will and Piper grab my arms and drag me around a corner.
"What was that about? You drove up with Percy?" Piper squeals.
"Yeah, if I'd have known you where with Percy I wouldn't have nagged you about getting a car ride for me," Will informs me.
"I wasn't with Percy when we were on the phone, Will," I told them. They gave me confused looks. "He pulled up in his car and was being annoying. I got in the car so he would stop." I lied.
"Ooh..." Piper says, but Will still doesn't look convinced.
"Now, is you'll excuse me, I have to get to class. I don't want to be late again." With that, I run off to get to class.
~•~
I get through most of the day with out anything exciting happening.
Time for rehearsal!
Wait... no...
I still have one more class...
Gym.
That dreaded class. Who ever thought that gym was a good idea, was seriously disturbed. Like the person who said orange is the new pink. If you can't tell, I've seen a lot of Legally Blonde.
This is the class that the scars show. Literally. The makeup usually runs right off of the scars, so others can see them. The class the world can see what I try my hardest to hide. This shows the cruelty of the public schooling system.
It's not like I'm bad at gym, it's just, I don't like it. I love working out, but gym is different. For one soul reason...
Dodgeball.
"Cupcakes! Today will be playing dodgeball," Coach Hedge tells us. How did I not see that coming? "Winning team runs a mile, losing team run two. I wouldn't suggest losing. It's 90 degrees outside." I roll my eyes. I spent two summers in Texas with Will visiting his family. 90 degrees is beautiful over there. It's, actually, cold in some places.
"Okay! Team captains are Percy and Madison!
Pick your teams!!!" Of course! Two very annoying people, whom I hate! Why do the Fates hate me?!"Annabeth," Percy says. Did he just pick me? First? Why not one of his friends? I mean, I'm grateful. If he hadn't had picked me, I'd be stuck with that demon.
I walk over to where Percy is. He smiles at me, and I smile back, blushing a little.
Why the hell am I blushing?! I scold myself.
Because he's Percy! Another voice in my head whispers.
Shut up!
The the teams continue to get picked, and I have to say I like our team better. We have some actually nice populars and theatre kids.
"Okay! Ready, set, go!" Coach Hedge yells at us. Percy and I are the first ones who take of running to the balls. I get there first and everyone, including Percy, gives me a surprised look. I roll my eyes and hand Travis, who's also on our team, a ball.
I through the ball right at Drew, she's on Madison's team, and it hits her square in the nose.
"Ahh! She hurt me," she cries. "Percy, come help me." Percy rolls his eyes and turns away. "I need to go to the nurse. Someone help me. And send that Anniebell girl to the principal."
"It's, actually, Annabeth," I correct.
"Sorry, Drew. You hit the ball, the ball will not hit you," Coach says.
"That's so horrible. I'm hurt," she complains. No one cares.
Bored, Percy picks up a ball and throws it at Drew. "You're out, get off the court." I smile.
My team picks up the ball and starts throwing them at the other team. A few of them attack is back, but for the most part we hit them all.
"Great," Coach calls out. "Time to run." I walk out to the track when Percy runs to meet me.
"Hey, great job. I didn't know you had that good of an arm," Percy complements.
"Thanks, you did good, too." He smiles. We get to the track a start to jog.
"Sure, but I didn't hit Drew in the face." Percy and I start laughing.
"Yeah, I am pretty great, aren't I?" I mock brag.
Percy chuckles lightly."Yeah, yeah, you are." He speaks lightly, which makes me blush. I hate that he makes me blush. I've only known him for a few days and he already is making me feel like this.
No, Annabeth, I warn myself. Don't do this to yourself. Not again. Your falling to hard to fast for someone you'll never love you back.
I sigh. It's not like I love Percy. I don't even like him.
"So... you excited for rehearsal today?" I ask.
"Well, if I'm being honest, I'm a little nervous. This is my first rehearsal and I don't want to screw it up," Percy says. I smile, slightly, about the fact that Percy opened up to me.
"It'll be okay, Percy. It's not till tech week that people kill you if you screw up," I say.
"Wait, what?"
"Yeah, if you mess up your lines then, we feed you to the band kids or the stage manager will have your hand. But that's mainly if you touch a prop that's not yours," I inform him. He looks a little nervous and kind of confused before I crack a smile. "Dude, I'm kidding." Percy smiles in relief. I glance at him. "For the most part."
For the rest of the run we talk about theatre and a lot of other random stuff. I'd say we actually became friends. It was nice talking to some one other than Will or the girls because, and I hate to say this, it usually the same things we talk about. It gets old. I love them to pieces, but talking with Percy felt natural and I had fun. Maybe this show wouldn't be a torturous as I thought.
A/N
How are y'all? It's been a while.
My fault.
Anyways, I'm sorry I haven't posted. I've been going through some stuff and I kind of forgot about it... SORRY!!!
See you later.
Love, Kate
