Annabeth's POV
After Next To Normal is on, I turn on shuffle for Avenue Q. Percy and I listened to Girlfriend Who Lives in Canada, If You Were Gay, and The Internet Is For Porn before we got there.
Percy was laughing so hard at the soundtrack, it made me smile. I loved how into it he got. Whenever he made some sort of connection, I couldn't help but be proud of him and Percy looked pretty happy, too.
We were the last ones to show up, but not by much. Piper was right in front of us, with Katie in the car with her.
"Hey, guys," Piper says, wiggling her eyebrows at me. "How was the drive?"
Percy and I look at each other, both equally confused. "Good?" I say, but it comes out more like a question because I had know idea why she was acting weird.
The four of us walk inside and are immediately bombarded by the crowd of our friends. They were shouting at us, but I didn't understand any of it. Eventually, Will breaks through the crowd to talk to us.
"Hey, Will," I say, rapping my arms around him, quickly. Percy coughs.
"So, Annie," he says. "Why'd you take so long? You and Percy were to busy making out in the car?"
She smacks him on the arm. "No, we had to go grab stuff. Like I would ever make out with that." I joke, gesturing towards Percy.
"Anyways," Percy says, stepping closer to me. "Let's get started."
I smile, and we all walk over to the living room and sit on the couches. Percy and Will both sit on one side of me, and Calypso stands in front of the whole group. She explains that the hat has a bunch of random categories we had pick a while ago. Then she pulled on out of the hat.
Once she read the small piece of paper, Calypso smiles. "The theme is duets."
"Annabeth, you're my partner," Percy claims, I just laugh.
"Aw, Percy, we know you love Annabeth, but that's not how this works. We randomly select them," Piper says. Percy blushes.
"Oh," he mutters. "And I didn't say that because I love her. I said it because she the best singer I've ever heard." I blush.
"Aw," Piper says. "You're so going to owe me a quarter at the end of the year, Annie. I would, if I were you." I throw a pillow from the couch at her and she caught it, laughing.
"Anyways, before anyone gets hurt, let's choose the groups," Calypso says, wisely, might I add.
She takes out her phone and puts all the names in a random generator type of thing. Then she lists out the groups. "Jason and Thalia, Hazel and Frank, Piper and Will, Calypso and Annabeth, Rachel and Grover, Travis and Katie, Leo and Connor, and finally, Nico and Percy." As soon as the words leave her mouth, complaints arise from the group.
"Me and Thalia can't do this, we're sibling. I don't want to sing a love song to my sister," Jason says, making a face.
"At least you're got someone attractive," Thalia says. "I'd have to sing to you, Blond Superman." Jason throws a pillow at her.
"Oh my gosh, it's like the Jacobs siblings thing," I point out. My friends laugh, while the others look weirdly at us. "You guys could totally do that."
"Well, that's all well and good, but what about me. I don't what sing a love song to this loser," Connor says, gesturing to Leo.
"Not all diets are love songs. Like, Dynamic Duet from Holy Musical Batman or something. Y'all could do that one," I suggest.
