Percy's POV
Damn, her voice is beautiful.
Annabeth's, that is. Is such a soft voice, but some how holds so much power. I don't know much about singing, but I do know Annabeth's voice is the best one I've ever heard.
I was staring at her while she sang, and she new it, I just didn't care. I couldn't take my eyes off of her, I didn't want her to stop singing, but she did.
Rachel and Grover went next, but I didn't really care because Annabeth came back to sit with me. She smiled that bright, glowing smile she had.
"Hey," she whispered, while Rachel and Grover got ready. "How'd I do?"
"Do you even have to ask? You're always amazing." Annabeth blushes, but she tries to play it off.
"Thanks, Seaweed Brain." She raps her arms around me.
I chuckle, lightly. "We're still doing that?"
"Of course." And with that, we shut up and listen to Rachel and Grover.
Rachel isn't a bad singer, per se, just average. I didn't know much about singing, as I've already said, but I mean, it's not bad.
Grover was the same. Average. They were both good at other things, but I guess singing wasn't their passion.
"They both love these shows. The superhero ones. I never really got into them, but they think of them as God's gift to man kind," Annabeth whispers. I have my arm around her as we watch everyone sing. A blush hadn't left my face since we sat down.
"I mean, I only saw a few seasons of Arrow, but it wasn't bad," I tell her.
The next group up is Travis and Katie, and boy was I ready to see this. Katie did not like Travis, but Travis always talked about how cute she was. I'm not really sure if he liked her, but it sounded like he might.
Katie has a soft voice. It wasn't loud, except one moment when she did a belt.
Travis was a tenor, but it was deep than Will's or Jason's had been.
"This song was perfect for them," I say.
"Yeah, always arguing," Annabeth adds.
"Hey, we don't always argue," Travis says, obviously hearing us. Annabeth and I exchange a glance, but don't say anything.
The next pair to go is Leo and Connor. Apparently, they used Annabeth suggestion, too.
Leo was a tenor, too, but he exaggerated the high notes he had as Robin. And Connor did the same for Batman. Both of them were tenors, but I had know idea what there voice was like, based on this.
Everyone watching was laughing at the voices. Annabeth had a great laugh.
It sort of started like she was laughing, then I got higher pitched, then it stopped making any sound at all she was just, like, shaking. But she was still so cute.
Annabeth was trying to catch her breath as it ended, but I didn't get to say and y'all because he and Nico were up next.
I had chosen a sound I had listened to with Annabeth over this week. And with a lot of arguing and looking for other songs, Nico agreed. I'm not really sure how I got him to, though.
Nico really didn't want to do voices, but I sort of got him to. Not as much as I would have hoped, but it was something.
I tried, but I was still getting used to this singing thing. I thought that was impressive as is.
Annabeth smiles. She's got a nice smile. "Avenue Q... can be used for any of the themes."
"Yes, it can," Will agrees. Annabeth had her head on his shoulder, but when I sat down, she took it off and put it on mine.
I look at her as much as I can and brush some of her curls out of her face. "So, how'd I do?"
"Beautifully," she responds, simply. Everything Annabeth says is so simple, yet it always makes my heart flutter.
I felt a blush prominent on my face, so I looked away, hoping she wouldn't see it.
"So, what do we do now?" Leo asks the question we were all thinking. Annabeth smiles.
"We vote."
"What?" Frank asks, yet another question we were thinking.
Will is the one who clarifies. "We write the name, or names, for today, on a piece of paper. Then the loser of last time has to add up the votes. Who ever wins gets a prize decided by the rest of the group." He stops and thinks for a second. "I guess for tonight we could give them both a different prize or something. I don't know."
"Okay, who lost last time?" Jason asks.
Will blushes. "Me. I kind of screwed it up because I heard the topic wrong," he says. The girls laugh.
"Sure you did," Annabeth says, laughing.
"Wait, what happened?" I ask. Annabeth waves me off, saying it was nothing.
Was it stupid to feel jealous that she didn't tell me?
I decide to push that thought away, but it proved hard because Annabeth kept laughing and she had Will's hand in hers.
"Alright," I say, my voice meaner than I intended. I realize this, though, and clear my throat before I talk again. "Let's get to voting."
So, we do.
I, of course, vote for the best group, having no bias whatsoever.
Annabeth Chase.
Annabeth and Calypso, I mean.
I sit next to Annabeth, while everyone else votes. She puts her chin on my shoulder, looks up at me, and asks, "Who'd you vote for?" She has a hopeful look on her face, trying to see if I voted for her.
I smile at her adorable face and kiss her nose. We smile warmly at each other, before I say, "Can't tell you."
Annabeth frowns and pulls her head off my shoulders. "Why not?" She pouts. I smile, cheekily.
"Because then, they might not when. It's bad luck," I say. Annabeth groans, annoyed, which makes my smile grow.
"Lucks don't real. Neither is bad luck," she says. "Just tell me."
"Ah, but it is. And I really don't want to risk it," I say.
Annabeth sighs, realizing she isn't going to get an answer out of me, and rests her head on my shoulder. "You're such a Seaweed Brain."
I smile. "Well, yes. But you need me. After all, you can't have Wise Girl with out Seaweed Brain, can you?"
While it was a rhetorical question, I was quite happy that she did answer, for her answer was, "Of course not."
See? Simple, yet my heart feels like it's soaring higher than the clouds.
I lean my head on hers and, through one stroke of boldness, I reach out and grab her hand. Annabeth doesn't resist, but instead squeezes my hand.
I smile at this perfect moment, and though I can't see it, I think Annabeth is smiling, too.
