10. Lover Boy

*Conners POV*

"Ya know you are a real heart breaker Con."

"What do you mean Jen?"

"Blowing Ambrose and the guys off for me. I mean I'm flattered you chose me to drive you to school and everything, but Ambrose looked so sad when you told him you were coming with me. I almost told you to go with him instead." She teased as she stopped the car signaling our arrival to the school.

"Hardie har har Jen, how many times are you gonna joke about him liking me? I already told you he's just doing a favor. Besides he's probably happy that he didn't have to drive me this morning, but thinking about it now I should have told him yesterday I was gonna hitch a ride with you so he didn't have to come to the house and waste his gas."

"You still think this is a joke Con. Okay how about this, today during lunch when he joins us i'll give you undeniable proof that he likes you. And to make things more interesting i'll even bet you 10 bucks. We can do it like baseball with three strikes, but points and it goes on until lunch ends."

"What do you mean three?"

"Like each time I prove he likes you it's a point for me and once I get three I win, but if I don't get any like you keep saying you'll win."

"Sounds like i'm about to get 10 dollars richer." I said as I stuck my hand out in her direction to shake on the deal. Feeling her hand encase mine we do a quick little shake and then make our way out of the car and towards class. Once in class Jenny didn't mention Ambrose to me at all. She's probably scheming ways to get herself those 10 dollars, but I know that its pointless to think of way to make someone admit to something that isn't true. Thinking about it there's an 100% chance of me winning 10 dollars since Ambrose has only known me for like 2 days, and there is no way some one can develop feelings for another person in 2 days, right?

Despite Jenny not talking to me about Ambrose for half the day i'm still here only thinking about him when I should be listening to the teacher tell me about Romeo and Juliets tragic love story. Ironic right. Abandoning my thoughts of Ambrose I begin to pay attention to what the teacher is actually saying until the bell rings signaling the end of fourth period and the beginning of lunch. Shuffling out of my desk I walk with Howard to meet Jenny who's is waiting for us to catch up with her so we can get her lunch before the line gets too long. After making the excruciating long walk to the cafeteria and waiting forever for Jenny to grab her lunch we are set on our way to the tree. As Jenny, Howard, and I are making our way to the tree we make small talk about something our teacher said about reading Greek myths after Romeo and Juliet.

"I'm kinda excited to do some reading about Achilles."

"Isn't he the one who was totally invincible except for his heel?" I questioned her not really remembering much about him.

"Yeah but he was also supposedly super hot and–"

"And what?" I asked stopping in my tracks since she just stopped talking mid-sentence only to be pulled by her as she whispered into my ear.

"Your lover boy Is already here. I guess that's one point for me."

"Huh? Oh shut up you idiot. Let's just go before he thinks we are weird for whispering to each other."

"Whatever you say Con, but be ready to lose i'm already one point ahead of you." Shoving her off of me we keep walking until I feel the shade off the tree where Ambrose is already waiting for us.

"Hey guys I was hoping you wouldn't mind me joining you again today."

"Not at all Ambrose. You are always welcome to join us here, but why are you wearing different clothes from his morning?" Jenny asked as I made my way to sit down on beside Jenny only for her to push me in-between her and Ambrose. With me being sandwiched between them Howard had no room to sit except for our feet. Poor baby abandoned to lay at our feet. I thought as Ambrose cleared his throat.
