4. Favors

*Ambrose POV*

"Hey dude did you hear what happened during the first lunch today?" Said George as Mrs. Johnson droned on about how to train and keep up our endurance for the baseball season we will all have to join and practice with the track team. It's honestly the same every year, but I guess it's good for the new people joining the team.

"What do you mean? What happened during lunch?" I said turning to him.

"Aaron was throwing a football around with some of the guys and hit some new guy in the face. Says he was bleeding really bad, but when he apologized the new guy went ballistic on him." George said as his eyes raked over the locker room scanning all the new members as Mrs. Johnson kept talking.

"We have a new kid? Since when did we get a new kid in town. What does he look like?" I said nudging him when he stopped paying attention to me.

"I don't know man I just heard about him today since that happened, but I do know that he's human." George said as Mrs. Johnson finally finished her speech with a Hoorah and a small round of applause from all of us. A new kid huh. I wondered as we are all dismissed for the rest of the period to just play around in the gym until school ends since its the last period of the day and we don't start track and other sports until later this week.

"Hey Ambrose catch this." Yelled Andy just in time for me to move out of the way as the basketball whooshes past my head and hits the wall I was leaning against with a smack. Looking from the ball to Andy he just looks back at me with a sheepish grin as he walks over to George and I.

"Andy we were in the middle of a conversation. Why are you like this?" I say as he picks the ball back up to dribble it.

"Its not like I actually hit you. Don't be such a wuss puss."

"What did you just call me Andy?" I said pushing off the wall to stalk towards him.

"Uh I'm just going to go have a chat with Andrew now." Andy said as he scurried over to his mate he found a week ago when he turned 18. Andy's lucky that he found his mate so soon and that he's also a part of the pack. Andrew hadn't turned 18 yet so he didn't know that they were mates until Andy saw him at the party we had. They are dating now but they agreed to hold off completing the bond until Andrew officially turned 18. I on the other hand haven't been as lucky as him or other people in the pack. I've been 18 for almost 4 months now and I've had no luck finding my mate. The day of my birthday I checked the entire pack and even all the humans in town and came up essentially empty. Not that i'd admit it to other people, but It really hurt that I didn't find them.

Pulling me out of the thoughts I heard George begin to speak "Hey man are you coming the bell just rang its time to go home already." Shaking my head I got up to follow him out to the parking lot with Andy and Andrew trailing behind us being all lovely dovey. Unlocking the car they all climb in after me. The small drive was filled with small talk between them all excluding me since I didn't feel like interacting with them. Once we arrived at the pack house both Andy and Andrew rushed out of the car to head to Andys room for I don't even want to know what. Slowly grabbing my things and climbing out  go the car I see some of the younger pack kids running around in the yard. Walking into the pack house I go to the kitchen to grab some Oreos before heading up to my room. With the occasional hellos on the way I flopped onto my bed and kicking off my shoes with a sigh.

Maybe I should check in some other packs to see if my mate is there with them, but what if he's a human in one of those pack lands. I think to myself as I munch on my Oreos. Hearing my  phone ring I take it out of my pocket not even bothering to see the caller ID.

"Hello, Ambrose speaking."

"Hey pup what are you up to right now?" Came my aunt Veronicas voice.

"Just eating some Oreos and thinking. What are you up to?"
