16. What happens at parties?

*Conners POV*

"Jen I don't know what to do anymore. Its been almost two weeks since that pool party and nothing has really happened with Ambrose and its almost like a stand-still. I should have just gotten a ride home from him instead of you today and talked to him, but what would I have said? Like what if all of this just in my imagi----oofffofoofo"

"Conner I love you but please just eat that muffin and shut up about Ambrose for a few minutes. I support you fully with you liking him and going after him, but sweetie that's all we've been talking about. Here how about this, I just got an invite from Amy in our gov class about her birthday party tomorrow do you want to go to help get your mind off things?" Jen suggests before handing me the other half of the muffin that she didn't stuff in my mouth. Finishing up the piece of in my mouth I think about what she said. 

"I don't know Jen wasn't that invite just for you? I feel like ill be crashing the party if I go."

"Cone it'll be fine i'll just out you down as my plus one to the party. I think you really need this ya know to relax and get your mind off of Ambrose if just for a few hours. What do you say?"

"I guess that's fine if she's okay with me crashing, but I still have to ask my mom for permission."

"Then let's go ask her right now. Didn't she say she was going to be in her room? Let's go look for her." Jen said before dragging me off the bar stool and up the stairs to the rooms with Howard trailing behind us. It almost looks like Howard got kicked out of his job. I thought while slightly chuckling as we made it into my moms room. "Hello Ms. Lopez."

"Hey guys what up? And Jenny you don't have to call me Ms. Lopez. You can just call me Lucy. What with how much you hang out here you might as well be my kid."

"Well Lucy I was just wondering if you'd give Conner permission to accompany me to a party tomorrow?" Jenny questioned my mom as I walking more into the room to find the bed and lay in it with her. Finding it I flop onto it while my mom keeps contemplating her answer.

"Hmm sure why not just be careful."

"Yay  could I also sleep over while I'm at it so I don't have to drive back over here tomorrow?"

"I don't see why not I'll just tell V so she can know how much dinner to make tonight." Mom said before trying to slowly kick me off the bed. What a loving mom I have. I thought before getting the message and getting up only for Jenny to drag me across the hall to my room.

"Now Conner lets go choose an outfit for you it has to be perfect if im taking you."

"Is this going to take long?"

"Oh hush you are going to be walkway material after im done with you."

"Jen I feel like these jeans are a little tight." I said once I had gotten dressed in what she chose out for me yesterday afternoon while she decided to borrow some of my clothes since according to her we are about the same size.

"Unlike all of those sweatpants and baggy jeans you've been wearing everywhere lately these are skinny jeans that also make your butt look good."

"What time is the party again?" I asked before throwing myself on my bed with Howard joining me not too soon after.

"Its in an 30 minutes so we should be leaving soon so we aren't late. Hey im kinda hungry so im going to steal some snacks from downstairs do you want me to get you anything while im down there?"
