Frisk woke up with a start, her heart racing, a gurgling scream on her lips.
Like always, the girl was momentarily confused as to where she was and how she got here, until the memories came back.
They had been at moms house, watching a movie, right?
And then..
Frisks eyes ripped open, tears already forming in her eyes.
No, no that couldn't be.
Before she even knew what she was doing, she was out of the bed and in the hallway, running at full speed over to Sans room.
Everything was alright, wasn't it?
It was just a bad dream.
Right?
It had to be!
But the second his door opened and a frantic looking Sans emerged, Frisk knew that this was as far from a bad dream as possible.
This was reality.
The timeline was reseted.
"frisk!"
She jumped up into his boney arms, hiding her face in the fur of his jacket, trying to block out the memories of everyone she loved turning into dust in front of her eyes.
'I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!', the girl desperately screamed in her head.
"shh, kiddo. it's ok."
No.
No, nothing was okay.
And she knew Sans knew it too.
He slid down to the ground with Frisk still protectively wrapped up in his arms.
She wanted to scream, but no sound escaped her throat.
How could she let this happen?
All they had worked for, everything they managed to build up over the last months..
It was gone, erased, like it never happened.
"frisk, hey, listen to me."
Shaking her head, the girl pressed herself deeper into Sans jacket.
She didn't want to see the disappointing look on his face, didn't want to hear how angry he was.
"i'm not mad, kiddo. i promised you, didn't i?"
The skeleton gently pulled back and put a hand under her chin until she reluctantly looked up at him.
"when was the last time you saved?"
The guilt that had formed deep in her guts spread out through her whole body, she felt sick, and it took her a while to get her shaking hands under control.
"Ten months ago"
How had she been so stupid, so naive?
Upon seeing Sans' smile fall a little, Frisk slumped back, chin landing on her chest.
"I didn't want to reset anymore. I promised you I wouldn't! So I stopped saving too. I-I was scared I would do it if I had th-the possibility. I'm sorry.."
Fresh tears gathered in her eyes.
This, all of it, was her fault.
And now everything was lost.
How could she let this happen?
.
Sans just held her, a single tear running down his boney cheek, not sure what to say.
