'I need you back here as fast as possible.'

Maya rolled her eyes, stuffing her cold hands deeper into her (Grillbys) jacket, opting to just ignore the noisy skeleton in her head.

Flowey and her were on their way back to Snowdin, basically frozen to their bones (or whatever Flowey had for bones in his body) and Maya really had enough of this day.

Sure, having the flower back at her side was the best thing that happened to her all week, but now that the whole thing had more or less calmed down, she realized just how utterly tired she really was.

She wanted nothing more than to sleep and forget about her wild chase through the forest and the Ruins, curled up against Grillbys warm body, one of his arms around her waist.

'I am serious, girl.'

'And I'm busy.', came her annoyed reply.

Couldn't Gaster take a hint?

Flower sent her a curious glance when he heard her scoff.

"Gaster ist trying to contact me. Says he needs me back in Snowdin.", she answered with a shrug. "I just don't feel like talking to him right now."

A wide grin slipped on Flowey face before he could hide it from her.

Part of the truth was also that since the flower was back at her side, Maya may be a little bit partial and wanted to spent less time with the skeleton, but more with Flowey.

Though she wouldn't admit that to anybody, at least not out loud.

Then again, the girl had a feeling that Flowey got the hint anyway, considering this wasn't the first time they spoke in codes.

She heard Gaster groan. 'If you won't come on over here on your own, I'll come over there and teleport you here- if you want to or not, I need to talk to you.'

'Geez, calm down.'

"Ugh, fine.", Maya replied out loud, picking up her pace a little and simultaneously filling the flower in. "He says it's really important, so I guess whatever he found out has to do with that human. I swear, if all of this is over, I never wanna hear that word again."

"You do remember that you're a human too, right?"

That forced a snicker out of her mouth and she winked at the flower. "I'm special."

"A special kind of idiot, at least.", came his sarcastic answer.

"Hey, I'm not an idiot!", she answered with an overly dramatic pout, suppressing the wide grin that wanted to stretch on her face.

Like this, with him back in her life and their constant bickering, it was easy to forget about all the threats that still lingered in the future and let go, simply enjoying some time together with her best friend.

"Oh yeah?" Flowey turned his face to her and raised an eyebrow. " You tripped over an empty street a few hours ago."

Her cheeks turned slightly red and Maya crossed her arms in front of her chest, ignoring Flowey protests at the movement. "That was on purpose."

The flower laughed. "Uh-huh. You know, if it wasn't totally unethical, I would so blackmail you with that."

Now it was her turn to raise her eyebrows.

"Cause you're a shining beacon of ethics, huh?"

He stuck his tongue out at her and poked one of his vines in her side. "At least I don't trip over nothing."

"That's only cause I have to carry you everywhere, weed."

"Ugh, stop with that name."

Maya laughed, stuffed her hands back in her pockets and kept walking, finally able to see the bridge on the horizon.
