Please come back to me.. I'm nothing without you, Maya..
"GRILLBY!"
Maya jerked up, eyes wide but unseeing, her heartbeat loud in her ears.
Where was she?
And where was everyone else?
Where was the human?
She snapped around, breath coming in huffs.
She had to warn Sans.
They were on their way to Waterfall.
Papyrus and Undyne were still training.
What if they got to them?
She couldn't let that happen, she had to do something!
Why were the lights out?
Did someone get to the Core?
'Fuck, concentrate, Maya!'
There was no time for this, she reminded herseld and whipped her head around to look for Grillby.
But Grillby was gone.
He had been behind her, right?
Right behind her when..
Her eyes widened and with frantic movements, she pulled the rim of her shirt up to glance beneath the fabric.
Nothing.
But..
They had shot her, right?
She remembered the pain, the gasp for air, and blood, so much blood.
Grillbys furious eyes, how he burned everything around them in his anger, his tormented screams when the bullet pierced through her heart.
"But I'm not dead.."
How wasn't she dead?
She could remember dying!
'What's going on here?'
Had she really been dreaming?
'Grillby did warn me about too much Hot Chocolate, but..'
So all of that had been a dream then?
They never went to Toriel?
Maya couldn't remember a time where her dreams had been this realistic.
At least not since Alphys got those pills for her, months ago, to help with the nightmares.
Or the coma, because technically she had been dreaming back then too.
Maya shuddered, wrapping her arms around herself, her brain still clouded in some kind of fog.
She shook her head to get rid of the feeling of dread in her chest.
Maybe she should just go over to Grillby.
He always helped when she couldn't sleep.
Her hand moved to the night table to turn on the small light she kept there.
But instead of the smooth wodden surface, she found a cold stone wall.
"What the hell?!"
And finally her eyes got used to the darkness around her and the fog in her head vanished.
What she saw froze the blood in her veins.
She wasn't back home, snuggled up into the mountains of pillows and the love of her life.
