"Why am I here?"

The darkness seemed to shift around her, like waves in the ocean, always moving, never staying still for long enough to see their pattern.

The rhythm calmed her racing heart down- enough for her curious, so, so curious soul to morph out of her body.

There was something about the Void that pulled her soul in, but in a completely different way than the pull she felt with Grillby.

A grinning face appeared in front of her, seemingly coming right out of Void, the white skull-like structure a stark contrast to the nothingness around them.

"Oh my dear, don't you know the answer to that already?"

Maya looked down to the soul that was still hovering in front of her chest, the usually so bright glow now dimm and weak.

It had looked like that, sick and cracked, the last time she entered the Void.

Back then she had been..

Maya looked up to the gooey skeleton in front of her.

"I'm lost"

He nodded and his deformed mouth pulled up in a proud grin.

"And I don't know what to do.", she confessed next, her heart falling with every word.

He moved back, disappeared into the darkness, only to pop back up behind her, his boney hands on her shoulders.

"Oh, but that is not correct, is it? You do know what you have to do next.. But you're scared.", came his whispered answer right next to her ear.

Maya simply nodded.

Of course she was scared!

She knew she had to get to Mt. Ebbot.

She knew she had to get back to the Underground.

But now that she had Lilly back.. There were so many things that could go wrong.

How was she supposed to take them to a mountain if she didn't even knew where said mountain was?

"I can show you the way."

This time the voice came from her left, sending a shiver down her spine.

She blinked at he was gone.

Even in her numbed state, Mayas heart started beating faster.

What was he playing at?

She turned in cirles, this way and that way, following the soft chuckle, but never able to pinpoint its exact origin.

A cold breath hit her neck.

Something wasn't right here.

Maya closed her eyes, trying to block him out, to get rid of the fog around her head.

Could she even trust him?

How could she be sure it wasn't him that sent her back?

"Who are you?"

The voice came from behind her, but when she whipped around, there was noone there.

"My name is lost to others, my dear. I told you so"

A whisper next to her, but nothing was there either.

"when you came to visit me the last time."

Yeah, but that didn't answer her question now, did it?!

She was about to say so, when his deep voice turned into an echoing chorus of sound, dozens of voices screamed at her and Maya pressed her hands over her ears.
