Beta Cedric's Pov (Selena's Dad)

Muddy brown hair and piercing amber eyes, covered in dirt, naked. She had been running for miles in her wolf form. An abandoned wolf, a newly turned roguer.............. she had lost her everything. Her pack wiped out in the blink of an eye. Her family killed infront of her........ yet her dead eyes didn't drop, she didn't submit to me............ her Alpha-blood didn't allow her to show weakness. Sister of Alpha Kellen, the last living member of Noctisluna pack.

That's how I met my mate............ in our pack prison, with shackles and chains covering her limbs, dead eyes refusing to lower. She was dead inside. A glance at her and I couldn't move, there was something painfully beautiful about her.

Her wolf was about to die and once pale unmarked skin, had numerous uncountable open wounds, she had ran, forced to run away from her responsibility, her pack and almost turned feral before we found her, yet her beautiful eyes didn't show an ounce of pain.

I wanted her to react, say something, smile, laugh or atleast cry to let out the pain she held within. I could feel her pain, her suffering............ why didn't she react?

I had never cried in my life for someone. But looking at her I couldn't help my tears.

I feel on my knees shouting at her for being so cold. I wanted her to react, say something, acknowledge my existence, tell me she feels the bond......... if not anything then at least her eyes to show some emotions.

I cried like a child infront of her............for her. She was too numb inside. But I could feel the unbearable pain she held. She didn't move, her dead eyes staring at me  like I was an unreasonable kid begging for impossible.

I feel in love with her that day. I fell in love with her broken soul who couldn't feel anymore but was still strong enough to look me in the eye, challenge me even on the verge of death.

Three weeks later I carried her limb form from the hospital to the pack house. She still didn't show any emotions. People looked at us in pity and sadness. It didn't bother me because it was the first time she clutched my shirt, her blank eyes looked up at me.  Her body warm against mine and I could feel the dim sparks............. her wolf had survived.

Six months later she said her first word, "Mate"

I couldn't contain my happiness, I felt like a proud parent who's kid had said 'Mama'. I laughed and cried, hugged her to my chest tightly, I made her favorite food that day. For the whole month I had that jolly smile on my face. Pack warriors teased me for being love-sick but I didn't care, for she was my everything.

A year passed by and she started smiling, looking at me with those beautiful amber eyes of her filled with emotions. I had marked her but never touched her with any other intention. When she kissed me for the first time, my heart exploded. It felt like I was complete, indestructible and the happiest man alive.

But she finally opened up to the pack when she gave birth to our daughter. After hours of labor pain, when she looked at the baby girl in my arms, she smiled and said, "Selena". Her smile had never been so radiant.

She started laughing, smiling more, walking around the pack holding the baby in her arms. Caring for little things, talking in her sweet voice to the little girl. Motherhood changed her.

I could finally recognize the person I once met in our visit to Noctisluna pack. The strong fighter, the sarcastic, slightly arrogant yet, gentle and funny Alpha-daughter.  Alpha Kellen's sister, the toughest warrior who wouldn't mind challenging a royal himself.

I loved her, loved her so much that I couldn't think of living without her. And I loved the baby girl for giving my mate a new life. Slowly the little bundle of life had crawled her was into my heart.

I was no longer just a cold emotionless beta. I was a husband, a father......... I felt sympathy, joy, pleasure..... I was drunk on happiness and in love with living.

Doctor said my mate could no longer bear children, so I decided to give my title to the little girl we loved so much. I promised her that I'll protect the child until she becomes capable of taking my position.

My father was dissatisfied of my proposal, so was my brother who outright rejected it. He wanted his son to become the future beta. A duel was planned on the day my daughter turned sixteen, a fight for the title.  Unfortunately my nephew died stopping the assassins who killed our Alpha, luna and ............ my mate.

I promised her, I'll protect our child............ and I broke it.

I held my mate's cold body for hours, begging her to react, to wake up. It felt like the first time we met in prison, her eyes were as dead as that day. I was in a delusion, in a hope she'll wake up and say something........ I wanted her to be alive......... I couldn't lose her....... I couldn't...........

There was also the smell of my daughter's blood in the room,  she was ten at that time, her first kill when she plunged her mother's family knife into the female assassin's throat  and I wasn't there. I wasn't there when her blood covered form was taken to the hospital, I didn't even visited her once.

I was too busy healing my own wounds to look at our little girl who slowly changed. After the burial, I engrossed myself in work. Attending to every need of the pack, paving the way for our future leaders. Returning to the cold empty shell of a man.

Future leaders?

Sometimes I feel like laughing on my stupidity. Robin and Selena were the first to see the incident, to see their parents get murdered. Our future leaders took the most scars,   emotional, mental........... in Selena's case, eight permanent physical scars on her back.

She was just ten when her beloved mother died and her stupid delusional father abandoned her to her uncle, I know I don't deserve forgiveness for what I did. Because I was the one  who stole her childhood and turned her into this............... a cold emotionless person. Just like myself.

The little girl who smiled and wore her heart out on her sleeve vanished. I had asked my brother to train Selena, the same brother who hated her, same brother who abused her and tried to kill her, who threw her into silver ring as soon as she turned fourteen.

"Dad the next proposal is for increasing the farming land and shift the training area towards East forest" my little girl said. Her eyes soulless and cold.......... so similar to her mother's.

I nodded "Deltas has been asking us to increase the industrial sector, it will be one of the major topics of discussion tomorrow. What about the rougeres you guys caught? And the level one warrior, Drake. Why is he in under observation?"

"Wow Dad........ you keep tabs on everything" her voice sounded a bit amazed. It was a rare emotion she expressed, amazement.

Like every dad I always wanted to be the super hero in her eyes, her as my little princess. But I wasn't there to save her when she needed me the most.

I laughed she wasn't a princess, more like a hot-blooded knight who paved her way through the wilderness. I don't know why these two kids forgave me for my neglectance for all those years. I know I don't deserve it but I'm still happy to be a part of their life.
