§Morgana Acampora§
Everyone is ready, including Nina and Hanna who took care of their own hair and makeup since Mia changed her opinion like four times and there wasn't enough time for them to be styled too. I told them I could do my own hair and makeup too but Mia said she was going to choose my dress and hairstyle. A barbie's life must really suck.
"I like this one," Mia said, standing behind me and placing the dress in front of me as we were both facing the full-length mirror. It's a Self-Portrait pink lace-trimmed pleated chiffon maxi dress. "The other dresses are too slutty."
"Mom!" Nina exclaimed.
"It's the truth," she let out a deep sigh before looking at the stylist over her shoulder. "Elias, do a low bun with two thin braids at the top of her head."
"All right," the man replied; he's the head stylist for Hanna's fashion shows.
"Wait–" I started.
Mia interrupted me "I have to go check on the caterers, I'll see you girls outside."
"Sure, mamma," Nina followed her mother to the door and locked it after the woman exited the room. "Her presence makes me nauseous."
"I've never met such a mean woman," Elias told as he patted the high chair set in front of a ton of lit-up mirrors. "Come on, pretty."
A deep sigh left my mouth as I took a seat "Even if she gave you a hideous hairdo to work with, you did an outstanding job, Elias," a soft smile curved my lips.
"She's such a boomer," Nina complained, lying down on the bed beside her wife. "Right baby?"
"The worst; after Nina came out to her parents, her mom didn't speak to her for a whole fucking year and kept on sending her pamphlets with the info for conversion therapy and camps."
A feeling of utter disgust formed inside of me and my heart tightened "My mom is a piece of shit too and I still want her to accept me."
"I feel the same way," Nina sighed deeply. "That's why I forgave her but Hanna and she have never talked for over five minutes without fighting."
"Nina, she called our marriage invalid and said we wouldn't last a year. That I was just a phase."
"Is she Catholic?"
"Yes," they both replied at the same time.
"Oh, well it makes sense; not that all Catholics are that way but most," Elias parted my hair evenly in the middle. "Eli, do you have a picture of this hairdo?"
"Yes," he pulled out his phone from his back pocket and showed me the screen a few seconds later. "Here, personally I think it won't do you justice; it's pretty but just not your style, I believe."
