Sleeping over at Josh's wasn't new to Olivia; usually it was a rushed thing or a complication of mislead plans or just being plain stupid (No offence) but this time... it was different.
Lying on her bed, headphones tangle haphazardly through her hair the bassline of Seven Nation Army pumped through her ears until it was interrupted by the trilling of her ringtone. Quickly checking the name, her irritation lessened when she realised it was Josh.
"Whats up?" She asked casually,
"I have a proposal. You can totally say no." Josh announced, not at all casually,
"Umm okay, go ahead" Olivia giggled slightly to herself.
"My sisters and I kind of have this tradition where we have a big sleepover with all of us together once a year. And this year they asked if you wanted to come..." Before she could even percieve what he was trying to see he slipped into self deprecating rambling. "Which by the way means they must really like you because even Winter's husband isn't allowed to come. Or maybe they just like you more than me" He snorted quietly, feeling very anxious. He knew his sisters were well aware of his crush on Olivia but Olivia was affectionately named 'Oblivia' because to be blatant, she was oblivious to anything and everything. After a couple moments of silence, she spoke up.
"Are you done?" She laughed. He murmured grumpily on the other side of the call. "I would love to, you know I love your sisters. But what exactly would it entail?"
"That's great! Thank you Liv. Well usually it's movies and eating too much food and at some point they ambush me with a bunch of makeup. Which I'm sure this time, especially because you're here, they will make it even more embarassing and include nail polish."
"Wow" She said stunned, "That sounds like a sight to behold. I'm in."
"Yay" Josh grumbled half heartedly "So now it will be six girls to gang up on me." He was half sarcastic half serious, it could often get a bid overwhelming being the only boy.
"Aww. Don't you worry Joshy, I'm always on your side." She teased. He was grateful this was a phone call and not a facetime so she couldn't see the red blush creeping up onto his cheeks that he tried his hardest to supress.
"Good to know. It's this saturday, bring pajamas." He informed, "I've got to go tell my sisters you said yes. See ya Livvy."
"Later Josh." She whispered as he hung up. Josh trampled down his stairs and skidded into the kitchen where his sisters were all sitting expectantly.
"So?" Ashley questioned,
"She said yes." Josh shrugged as if he hadn't just raced downstairs to tell them the news.
"Oh my god, you finally asked her to marry you?" Winter jumped up with an excited smile. All the girls burst into laughter and her husband, sitting next ot her, smiled up in admiration but Josh was not pleased. His face went red and no one could tell if it was blushing, embarassment or anger. Maybe it was a combination of all three. Either way, Josh stormed back up the stairs and slumped down behind his door.
"Oh God." He sighed, a whole night he would be stuck with his sisters and Olivia. It was a recipe for disaster, if she didn't know already she would after saturday.
Saturday rolled around quicker than he would expect and soon him, Hannah and Claire were setting up their family room to be the perfect sleepover haven. Claire was on Josh's shoulders hanging up fairy lights around the ceiling. Hannah was organising duvets and blankets on the sofa and floor. Ashley burst in laden with snacks and drinks which she piled onto the small console table that had been pushed away from the middle to the edge of the room. Allison was on the phone to the pizza place nearby and Winter was still on the way from her apartment when the doorbell rung. Hannah, Ashley and Claire all looked at each other with conspiritorial smiles. Josh threw Claire off his shoulders onto one of the sofas in effort to get to the door before his other sisters. But Ashley had other plans, she trapped Josh into the room while Hannah dashed for the door. She was out of breath and panted, grumbling to herself about how much she hated running when she opened the door. Trying (and failing) to compose herself she greeted Olivia with a beaming smile.
