Olivia sighed as she scrolled through her instagram and saw constant edits of the tiktok Josh and Sofia filmed together. She couldn't help but think they looked so happy, everyone else thought the same too. Comments were streaming in about how cute they were. Continuing to look through, she found edits of Josh and Sofia talking and hugging and laughing together.
'She's so much better than Olivia'
'Jofia is the new Jolivia'
'Everyone's saying he likes Olivia. I don't see it'
The harsh reality of the comments slapped her in the face. Throwing her phone across the bed. She flopped down face first onto her pillow.
"I was stupid to think he'd ever like me when there was someone as perfect as Sofia" She grumbled hugging her pillow closer to her chest, glancing over at the clock she crawled into her bed in defeat. Hours later she was woken up by her ringtone peircing through the air. Rubbing her eyes and scrambling to reach her phone she answered without bothering to check the ID.
"Hello?" She mumbled still trying to regain her bearings,
"Olivia, are you okay? It's 6PM." Tim asked in concern,
"Tim? Yeah, I just fell asleep." She replied nonchalantly,
"Well I've got great news. We've been cleared to start filming again!" He exclaimed.
"Oh My God!" She screamed, tumbling out of bed and running around. After pausing to breathe, she returned to the phone with a cough, "Sorry Tim, what were you saying?"
"The thing is, we still can't fly so we are going to be taking a cast road trip to get there. We're going to get a bus and take the series regulars with us to SLC. There will be a second moving bus to take all your stuff there. See you in a week, I have to go call the others." With that, Tim hung up, leaving Olivia astounded.
"Mom! Dad!" She screamed, running down the stairs. "I've got the best news."
"We know honey, Tim called us first." Her Mom forced a smile.
"What's wrong?" Olivia asked, she wasn't oblivious to the underlying tension in the room.
"Well kiddo, we can't actually come with you this time. We aren't permitted to travel to Salt Lake as we aren't going for work." Seeing Olivia's crestfallen face, her Dad corrected. "But you'll be living in a house with all the others and you'll see us soon enough." Olivia rushed up to hug them both tightly.
"I'll miss you." She mumbled into her mom's shirt.
"Us too. Come on, I'll help you pack." Olivia's mom sniffled before guiding her back upstairs with a sad smile. Scooping up her favourite clothes and winter clothes especially for filming she couldn't help ignore the butterflies in her stomach. She was going to see Josh again. The butterflies were getting faster and more furious and soon it felt more like an attack. Oh God. She was going to see him again. What if she did something wrong and he hated her? Would she have to watch him and Sofia together? She loved Sofia, she really did. They were bestfriends but she couldn't help but be jealous and resentful. That should be her. But it's not like they're dating, there was the same taboo but more extreme surrounding Sofia and Josh's age difference as the difference between herself and Josh. Trying to shake off her worries and ignore the squeezing in her chest and the added effort to breathing she went into her closet and gathered the boxes she would use to send her stuff down. Piling her favourite sheets, pillows, fairy lights and books into one box and her clothes and shoes into the other two she saved the last for her keyboard, ukulele and guitar (which were safely wrapped in bubble wrap) After packing up most of her room, she collapsed exhausted onto her bed and crawled into the safety that was her blanket, drifting of to sleep dreaming of the Salt Lake snow.
