*sleepovers(2)

Josh slowly blinked open his eyes, he could hear the creaking of the door indicating his mother had come to check on them. He was never going to hear the end of this. From his mother and his sisters. He could hear his mum sigh and talk to herself about him. Resisting the urge to roll his eyes, he tried to fall back to sleep. 

"I think you've been good for him" 

He peeked through his eyelashes and saw Olivia was slightly sitting up looking at his mother. Oh god... they were talking this did not bode well. Oh of course his mum had to expose him like that, he wanted to tell her himself. Being ever the hopeless romantic he had planned to surprise her with a song and hopefully ask her to be his girlfriend if she felt the same way. But his mum had to come in and bulldoze his plans. Consumed by anger and frustration at his mum he almost missed what Olivia said next. What she said shocked his heart and lungs into stopping working. All he could do was listen, paralysed. As Olivia fell back to sleep and his mum left, Josh lay staring at the ceiling in shock. His heart and lungs slowly crept back and started working again. Was this real? Or was this some sick prank? He almost expected a film crew to burst in and start laughing, pointing out all the cameras and Olivia would laugh and tell him she could never like someone like him. His ribs constricted his breathing again but this time it sped up and he felt like he was suffocating. His eyes were burning as tears threatened to spill and his hand shook violently by Olivia's hip. He tried to stop the panic and looked down at the girl curled into his chest. Suddenly she turned and put her arms around his neck in her sleep and held herself closer to him. Following suit, he put his arms around her waist and slowly started to breathe at a normal pace. 

The next morning, he was woken by a chorus of giggles and awws as his sisters woke up and saw him and Olivia. 

"Shut up." He mumbled into Olivia's hair. To his surprise, they actually did and all left to go get breakfast. Winter was last to leave. As she was closing the door she spoke up:

"Josh. I want you to know we all really like her and we really like you together." Josh tried to protest and say they weren't together but his oldest sister just shushed him and continued to speak. "I know you aren't together yet and you're worried about the show and your age, but I want you to know that all of us will support you no matter what because we love you Joshy" Josh smiled up at his older sister and murmured a small thanks, she always knew exactly what to say when he was feeling anxious. The loud slam of the door caused Josh to grimace and Olivia to groan and wake up.

"Hi there" Josh grinned as she rubbed her eyes and stretched. 

"Hello" She grumpily replied. 

"Are you hungry?" He asked quickly,

"God yes" She moaned, grabbing his hand and dragging him up and into the kitchen. Turning back into her bubbly, energetic self she smiled at the Bassett family already sitting down at the table and ignored their smirks at her holding hands with Josh. He looked down at their hands and then at Olivia wondering if he should drop her hand but she simply shook her head at him then turned to his mum who had begun to talk.

"So unfortunately, they was an incident with the stool, so Josh you're on the floor." Laura announced. 

"They could share a chair." Winter smirked, sipping her coffee. She could only be nice for so long. Josh glared but Olivia just nodded, surprising them all, and pulled Josh into a chair. She was perched on his lap, acting nonchalant as if nothing was going on. Winter coughed on her coffee in surprise and the other people around the table just gaped. Josh blushed the darkest red possible and in an attempt to recover asked Hannah to pass the orange juice. Abiding, Hannah scooched the orange juice along the table and stared at Winter in disbelief. "I can't believe that actually worked." Winter whispered to herself. Breakfast continued and soon Olivia sitting on Josh's lap became a normal thing. Josh was still thoroughly confused but managed not to show it.
