"Kora. Come on." Keith said shaking the girl awake. "We got to go and do some test runs."
"Okay." Kora yawned and stretched. "I'm awake."
"Let's go eat. Shiro and Adam will be here in an hour." Keith mumbled.
"Okay." Kora said getting out of bed.
Keith walked into the kitchen and poured Kora a bowl of fruit loops.
"How much longer until the Derby?" Kora asked eating a spoonful of her cereal.
"3 days." Keith replied as he ate.
"So long!" Kora pouted shoving her spoon in her mouth. "I wish it would come faster."
"Me too little K, me too." Keith said.
They both quickly finished their breakfast and got dressed.
"Can I watch some TV before Shiro and Adam come?" Kora questioned.
Keith nodded and turned the tv on.
"Monster Jam!" Kora exclaimed as she quickly sat on the couch to watch it.
Keith let out a chuckle and sat next to Kora.
About 45 minutes later, Shiro and Adam showed up at the house.
"So, what time did you get up at?" Adam asked.
"4:30 am." Keith mumbled as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"What did you do at 4:30?" Shiro questioned.
"Come take a look." Keith smiled and took the couple towards the garage.
Shiro and Adam gasped as soon as the lights turned on in the garage.
"Keith this looks awesome!" Adam said.
The car was painted black, with Blue, Red and purple flames on the hood and on the back of the car. On the sides were also flames coming from the bottom of the car, but this time, there was a shark on both sides.
"It's not done yet." Keith said. "I want to add the flames coming from the top of the car and making it's way down."
"Has Kora seen it yet?" Shiro asked in awe.
"Nope. I wanted you guys to see it. Just to make sure it looks like how she wanted it." Keith explained.
"Kora! Can you come here for a second!" Adam called.
The three waited for Kora.
"Yes Adam?" Kora questioned walking in the garage.
"What do you think of the car?" Adam questioned moving out of the way so she could see it.
Kora let out a squeal. "It looks so good!" She cried and slowly walked around the car.
"It's not done yet Little K." Keith grinned.
"It's not?" Kora asked. "What else is there going to be?"
"It's a surprise." Keith answered with a wink.
Suddenly Keith's phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Open your garage." Matt's voice came through.
Keith did as told and opened up the garage door revealing Matt's truck hooked up to the trailer with Pidge and Matt on both sides.
"Yo! That car looks sick!" Pidge laughed.
"Shall we take it for a test run?" Keith asked with a smirk, twirling the keys on his fingers.
"Let's do it!" Matt said.
Keith got into the driver seat of the Derby car and turned it on while Matt and Pidge got the trailer ready.
The loud noise of the Derby car got people looking over to see what's going on.
Matt hand motions to let Keith know to keep moving the car until it was on the trailer.
Once the car was on the trailer properly, Matt threw Keith his truck keys.
"Your car. You drive." Matt said getting in the passenger seat.
Pidge and Kora got into the backseat of the truck while Keith got into the driver's seat.
Adam and Shiro headed back to their own car and followed behind Keith down to a track that the Holts owned.
~~~~~
The derby car roared as Keith sat in the seat with his helmet on.
Adam gave the thumbs up letting Keith know he was good to go.
Keith slammed his foot down on the gas pedal as he sped down the track.
"Go Keefy!" Kora cheered as she jumped up and down.
Keith made figure eights as he drifted across the dirt. He was going to have to clean the car later. But he didn't care.
His blood was pumping as excitement rushed through him. This is where he belonged. In a derby car.
He headed back to the others and shut the car off before climbing out of the window, you know, because that's the way to get out and in a Derby car.
"She runs good." Keith said patting the hood.
"Looks good too." Shiro said giving Keith a high five.
"You're gonna have to hose it down." Adam laughed.
"Fine with me." Keith smiled.
"That was so cool!" Kora giggled.
"Hey the fair opens tomorrow." Matt said. "You guys wanna go for a bit?"
"Can we Keefy?" Kora asked hopefully as she looked up at her brother.
"Sure we can." Keith said.
When they go to the fair on Saturday, they don't do much rides considering the Derby starts at 1 and doesn't end until at least 4. And the fair closes after midnight, but Kora can't stay after 10.
And the fair was pretty big. There's tons of rides there. So why not take Kora there tomorrow so she can get on a majority of the rides she would like to go on and then do the rest Saturday.
"Come on Kora!" Keith called out. "It's time to go!"
"Coming!" Kora giggled and ran down the hallway. "Bye mommy!"
"Have fun you two! And be safe!" Krolia said.
"We will!" Keith replied as he and Kora walked out the door.
"I can't wait!" Kora said as she got into her seat.
~~~
"Come on!" Kora said running over to Shiro.
"Kora don't go to far!" Keith called out trying to catch up to his sister. But something or rather someone stopped him from doing that.
"I'm so sorry!" The person Keith ran into said. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. And it should be me apologizing. I ran into you." Keith said. "I'm sorry!"
The man Keith ran into was very attractive in his opinion.
"It's okay. I'm Lance." He introduced holding his hand out.
"Hi I'm Keith." Keith replied shaking his hand.
"Keef!" Kora said running back and grabbing his free hand. "Come on!"
"I'm coming." Keith sighed. "I hope to see you again Lance!"
"Same to you!" Lance called out.
Keith smiled and walked over to his friend group.
"Who was that?" Pidge asked wiggling her eyebrows.
"Just someone I ran into." Keith answered with a smile.
