I can still punch

Leyla's POV

I trudged to my classroom and dumped my bag under my usual table.

About five minutes into the lesson, the new guy came in, saying that he lost his way or something. I just kept my head down.

Becca sat to my left and I sighed, taking in the empty seat to my right. Until it was occupied. By a certain new guy.

I signed to becca 'Get him to move NOW!' she nodded and asked him. He shook his head, asking me to talk to him, and why he couldn't have the seat. And I got angry.

Real angry.

I got up, shoving him off the chair and reaching down to punch him hard in the face. I smirked as he hit the floor, unconscious.

"Leyla! Really! Someone get the nurse, we need to see if it's broken." Our teacher muttered. He frowned in disapproval of me but I just shrugged my shoulders and smirked.

The nurse came running in, and started asking our teacher questions, until she finally got to me.

She turned to me and glared in my direction, hoisting the new guy up in her arms.

She motioned for me to come with her, and I watched as she struggled from door to door, glaring at me the whole time.

We eventually got to the medical room, where she lay him down on the bed, and started checking him out. Turns out it wasn't broken and he didn't have a concussion. Oh well.

She then proceeded to drag me to the head teachers office, who looked incensed. "What exactly do you think you are doing?" He asked, furious.

I smirked and turned to becca, who had been seated in the office chair next to me, and signed 'I'm sitting in the office chair.' She refused to reiterate this.

We had a further silent conversation and he sighed and said "I would like to be involved in this conversation." Becca nodded meekly.

I sighed and explained to becca what happened, glaring at the headmaster when he sighed.

"Leyla, I understand your grief, I really do. But you can't keep on like this, it's been five years now, you can't punch someone for just sitting in her seat." I nodded, tears forming in my eyes.

He dismissed me with a flick of his wrist and a heavy, tired sigh. "You can go, and send the boy in." He said.

We nodded and stepped outside, side-by-side. When I saw cole I looked to becca and she looked down at my hands expectantly.

'Remember, I may be mute, but I can still punch.' And she reiterated in a shocked state, mumbling her words. I smirked at him.
