I busted the door open to see Michael’s parents held hostage by Nick and Max. They had them tied to the chairs in the kitchen.
“Alright what the fuck do you want that you had to go and do this?” I spat.
“Mom! Dad!” Michael yelled.
He tried to move to them, but Nick shoved him back against the fridge, knocking bowls and cups over.
“Take it easy. We just want to talk.” Nick said, with a utility knife in his hand.
“Well then talk! What do you want!” I yelled.
I’ve had it with them. It has gone too far now. They have my boyfriend’s parents hostage. Why them? They have done nothing.
Max walked around the table and took his time before he spoke. He was trying to make me go crazy. It was working.
“So Kayla. You found yourself a place to stay, got a boyfriend, made some friends; You’re getting your life back together huh?” Max asked.
“I guess you can say that but what does that have to do with anything!” I questioned.
“Does your boyfriend's parents know about you? Because you have been dating his young man for a while I mean it would be wrong if the family didn’t get to know the real you? Am I right?” Nick asked.
“You stop it right now my relationship and my personal life is none of your buisness!” I said.
“What do you want get to the point already! Why are you doing this to my parents!” Michael yelled, about to go at Max, but I held him back. I knew that he would regret it if he did.
“Before I get to my point, I want Kayla to tell them about herself. C’mon Kayla tell them about you before you met Michael. How did you even meet Michael?” Max asked.
“I-I was walking home and I dropped my stuff and Michael helped me pick it all up and walked me home.” I spoke quietly.
“Where did you live?” Nick asked.
I could see what they were trying to do.
“On Williams Road.” I said.
“Did you really live there live there or just said there over night to sleep because you had no where else to go?”
“Yes. I’m so sorry you guys are finding out this was but before I met Michael, I had no home and I was spending my days on the street trying to make money.” I spat out.
I could see the look on Michael’s parents face that they now really were not too thrilled with me.
“Kayla use to be very close with us. We were tight friends! We helped each other out, stole together, brought each other food, supported each other, we were a working team-” Max began to say, but I cut him off,
“That bullshit and you know it you took money from me, food, you first had me tricked into thinking that you would help me but you made things worse for me and got me into pros-” I stopped myself from talking because I knew I would regret saying that. But they knew what I was about to say, and I know they were not going to let me get away without saying it.
“What were you about to say?” Nick asked.
“Nothing.” I spat.
“No no no it was something. Something important. Spill it.” Nick said, then holding the knife up to Michael’s father’s neck.
Michael went to go back at him, but Max pulled Michael back and threw him to the ground.
“Say it!” Nick yelled.
