“Michael what are we doing here?” I asked as we entered a store called Party City.
It was now the next day and Michael said we were going to do something fun today. I was hoping this wasn’t Michael’s “fun” thing planned.
“We have to buy some sort of costume for Ashton’s party Friday.” He smiled as he dragged me into the store and down the aisle.
“Was this your “fun surprise” you had planned?” I sarcastically stated.
“No this isn’t it trust me I have something else planned.” He giggled.
We then stopped in an aisle filled with costumes and accessories. Michael then let go of my hand and began to look through the aisle.
“Michael I thought we weren’t wearing costumes.” I whined. I really didn’t want to show up to the party in some weird costume that I probably won’t like.
“You don’t have to put on a full costume, but Ashton said we have to at least wear something. Trust me I don’t want to dress up just as much as you don’t.” He said, looking up and down the aisle for something. I then began to look around myself even though I probably won’t find anything. I just didn’t want to stand there like an idiot. Michael then pulled a mask off the rack and showed it to me.
“Would it be weird if i wore this?” He raised his eyebrow, holding the mask up in front of me. It was a ninja turtle mask. I could tell by the tag on it. It was orange so that meant it was Michelangelo.
“If you wanna wear it then go ahead it’s not that weird.”
Michael just nodded and held it in his hand. He then continued to look around and so did I. There was a pair of cat ears and a tail that looked nice, but I didn’t want to do that since probably every girl at the party would be wearing that. Now that I cared, but still it would be nice to be that girl that actually wear something besides cat ears. I then continued to look down the aisle for something else.
Suddenly I saw someone hold something in front of me. It was seemed to be one of those sexy bunny costumes. I turned around a glared at Michael. He just wiggled his eyebrows at me.
“Michael no!” I said, slapping his arm.
“I’m just kidding!” He laughed as he but the costume back.
I then turned back around and continued to look around.
“But it would look nice on you.” Michael whispered in my ear. I could feel his smirk against my ear.
“Stop it!” I giggled, continuing to look around for something to wear.
“Hey Kayla what do you think of this?” Michael called for down the aisle. I turned my head to see him holding up a small batman cape that came with a mask.
“That’s nice.” I said walking over to Michael to get a better look at it.
“You don’t have to wear the mask if you don’t want. I also have a batman shirt I never wear a home that you can wear if you want so it’s not like you’re really too dressed up.” He said handing me the cape.
“I like this. I think I can wear this.” I smiled looking at the costume. It wasn’t too long also which I liked. It only went down to my waist when I put it on.
“Okay so are we set to go?” Michael asked.
“Yea. Wait what are you wearing just that mask?” I said looking at his mask.
“No I also got this turtle shell backpack thing.” Michael smiled, holding up the backpack. I giggled then grabbed his hand and pulled him up towards the register.
As we waited online, I then looked at the price tag on the cape. It was $7.00. I took a deep breath and opened up my bag to see if I had enough money for this. Since I haven’t been on the street anymore, I am running low on money. I don’t want Michael to have to think he has to buy everything for me. Maybe one a week I can go hang out on the street with Alexa and try to make more money. I don’t want Michael to have to always pay for me. Even though it’s nice, I don’t want him to think that. I can handle myself. I had $14.22 in my bag. That was all the money I had left. I took a deep breath and hesitated if I should buy this.
“Hey hey hey put that back in your bag no way in hell you are paying.” Michael said, putting my money back in my bag.
“Michael you don’t have to do this.” I softly said since I don’t want people to hear.
“No I want to do this.” Michael said, grabbing my hand and kissing it. I just took a deep breath and let Michael pay since he insisted he wanted to.
“Save that money for something else, not this.” Michael whispered before walking up to the cashier to pay. After we paid, I thanked Michael, then we got back in Michael’s car and drove off.
“So where are we going for this “fun surprise” thing?” I questioned, as I held Michael’s had while he drove.
“You’ll see.” He said with a big smirk on his face.
“Can I have a hint?” I asked.
“It’s my happy place.” Was all he told me. That could mean a lot of things.
