A Glitch In The System: Corrupted Database(Editing)

You stared as the crushed glass and dust that covered the ground.

Mugman darted off toward the Respawn Station. His eyes wide in fear.

Grabbing Melody's shaky hand, you pulled her forward, causing her to yelp a bit, "W-Where are we going?!"

"The Respawn Station, they'll be there!" You told her in attempt to assure yourself as well.

Rushing into the circuit-like building, you slid to a halt as Mugman had Cuphead in a tight hug.

Sans looked drained as he sat down, holding his skull softly, "Well, that was the last straw I guess."

Both brothers didn't seem to hear him.

Melody ran forward to hug the skeleton, but teleported out of the way, looking exhausted, "No... You two need to escape now.. If any of us snap again it'll just cause more problems."

The player looked a bit sad when he dodged her, but the two brothers nodded, "You guys can't stay here with us..!" Cuphead stood up now.

Your heart kept crying for you to stay, but you knew there would be no time if you did stay.

"Follow me Melody." You ordered softly, turning to leave the building.

She bid a sad farewell to them and followed behind you, looking skittish.

Was she scared about being jumped... Or was she scared to be around you?

Looking around the eerily quiet city, you looked to Melody, "What happened."

She flinched at your question, "I-I.."
She seemed to be in a silent debate.

Assuning she was just shaken over the sudden attack, you slowed your pace a bit.
"I need to know Melody.." You said softly, hoping to let her know you weren't mad.

"I- He-" tears swelled in her eyes for a moment before she wiped them on her sleeve, "I don't know.."

You hesitated, pity in your chest for the Player. She wasn't used to this.

Neither am I though...

"Hey it's ok.." you set a hand on her shoulder, confused at her sudden recoil, "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine." She sniffled, stepped out of your grasp.

Something didn't feel right, but you blamed it on the past attack, ".. Okay, just tell me if anything happens."

Melody looked at you for a moment, her purple eyes flashing green for a second before nodding.

You froze, having caught it.

What was that? What is she not telling me..

You didn't question her as you led her along the paths toward Resident Reside and eventually, towards the Mushroom Kingdom where the rest were, but an uneasy feeling told you to wait before going to the castle.

"... We're going to the Gameboy first. "

"B-But why..!?" She squeaked.

There's something wrong... She sounds scared about that..

You looked at her pale face.

What are you hiding..
