"Do you think you'll ever tell them?" Jamie asks as we both walk to Starbucks to meet Mum and Dad. "Honestly, I don't know" I reply, as I look down at my feet as I walk. "I know you like the idea of being able to live the life you want and not be noticed for it, but what happens when you find someone to settle down with?" Jamie asks as he looks at me through the side of his eyes. I shake my head "you really think someone would go for someone like me?" I laugh, as Jamie shakes his head, stopping in his tracks. "I may of not known you forever like people think I do, but your my sister, blood or not, I love you, you're amazing I'm so many ways, you can't let what one person said to you put you off being yourself" Jamie mumbles, as he carries on walking. "Jamie, I hardly have a decent history, if it wasn't for mum and dad I'd be in some post care home now" I mumble, as he shakes his head. "We both know what it's true, you'd be exactly where you are now, you'd be interested in music, mixing little tracks in the bedroom, waiting for someone to walk in" he teases, as I laugh at his comment.
I had always been about music, it fascinated me, how it had an ability to change your mood, from the first beat or the first lyric, I was always captivated by it. I wanted to make people felt the way I did when I listened to music, so I started up a podcast in my bedroom and 'girl behind the microphone' began, it was the first name I could come up with, and I didn't feel like putting my name out there, I didn't want my name out there. But each week I began to tune in, playing songs and talking about things that mattered for an hour or two, and week by week my following status grew, people always questioning who I was, but no one ever guessed, no one ever would and they didn't need to know as far as I was concerned.
Then one day, Jamie walked into the bedroom after I was taken in to his Mum and Dads house, being a studio manager, he thought he had hit the jackpot, finding out who the mysterious girl was, feeling like he had accomplished everything, but after days of him trying to convince me that I should begin to broadcast through Kiss, I finally agreed, on one condition; I still got to be the girl behind the microphone, no one had to know it was me, and after hesitation he agreed, letting me keep my secret, the secret I had for years."Do you think Pel and Jord listen to you?" Jamie chuckles, as we walk back out of Starbucks and back to the studio, Mum and Dad being caught up at work and not able to meet us, but that was okay, I needed to get some planning done for my show if I was doing live question and answers. "I don't think so, I'm sure they have to do flips or something" I chuckle, as Jamie pushes my shoulder playfully. "You hit five thousand streamers earlier, that's five thousand people listening to you" Jamie states as I shudder at the thought. "Way to add pressure" I mumble, as Jamie laughs. "One day you'll thank me for pushing you to tell the world, until then, let me be right and think what I want to think" he mumbles, as we walk back into the Kiss studio.
"There you are" Emily mumbles, as I hand her a iced latte, I knew she would moan if I didn't bring her anything back. "So, I have some amazing news" Emily chuckles, as she places herself down on the table, there was something that irritated me about people sitting on tables and not the chairs that were placed around the table that were actually made for sitting on. "Go on" Jamie mumbles, the over excitement from Emily bouncing off the walls and Emily giggled to herself. "So, first thing first, there's a Kiss Party coming up! and they want Girl Behind The Microphone to headline it!" Emily chimes, as I drop the remainder of my coffee on the floor, the realisation not quite hitting Emily. "And secondly, Jordan and Perri both listen to you! They can't wait to see you at the party" she squeals as she hugs me, as I pull away quickly, looking over at Jamie. "They can't make me can they?" I whisper, as he shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know, but if they've already released it, it sounds like you're doing it" Jamie whispers, as I shake my head. "No, it's not happening" I mumble, as I walk past the both of them sitting in the mixing room with the door locked, looking down at the ukulele that was placed on the table.
I pick it up and begin strumming.
"Feels like I'm not where I'm supposed to be, don't fit in with this familiar faces" I sing to myself, strumming the strings and blocking the rest of the world out. "And the games that we play don't mean a-" I stop myself, trying to gather my thoughts, I needed new music to play, and there was no time like the present to get writing and producing something. "I know there's so much more" I mumble, as I place the ukulele down, walking around the mixing room, looking at the photos I had taken during the first few weeks of being here doing my show, this was my studio, my mixing room, I didn't think I was ready to share that with anyone just yet.
But everyone was right, one day I would have to come out of this bubble, I'd have to be who I always was.
