I wake up on the bathroom floor, a secure arm wrapped around me. I glance at the person to my right, seeing Loki in a deep sleep, eyes closed peacefully.

"Loki?" I whisper, shaking his shoulder carefully.

He begins to stir and his eyes open slowly, looking up at me. He sits up to look around, then returns his gaze to me.

"My apologies, I didn't intend on falling asleep here. I would've carried you to the room or something..." he apologises.

"No- it's fine. Thank you... you didn't have to stay." I smile.

"It would be indecent of me to leave. And, I hate to admit it, but you're not the worst company ever." he nods.

"Nor are you." I smile.

"I'm so sorry about Freya, (Y/n). I truly am. And I need you to accept that it was not your fault." he says, a hand placed on my cheek comfortingly.

"But, how? How can you forgive me? You were in the same situation as her. You died too, but you managed to escape death, unlike her. I let you die, just like her." I rant, "I need you to be mad. I don't like this- how.. forgiving you are. It's new. Scary."

"Scary? You want me to be angry with you for a mistake? It wasn't even a mistake- you were injured." he justifies.

"I could've reached you. One of you at least."

"And what, (Y/n)? You limp over in agony and what? We were both out of depth, we both took more than we could handle and we both paid the price for that." he explains.

"Why are you being understanding? Empathetic? Stop it! I don't like it!" I yell.

"You think I'm trying to be the nice guy? You think I'm doing this to make you all happy again? So we can eat crisps and chocolate in the hospital room again? Because I'm not. Freya's death was not your fault. Nor was my death. She died on her own terms, and you have to accept that she wasn't strong enough to get through." he lectures.

Silence looms over the room as I look down at my feet, ignoring Loki admiring my face.

"The others will be worried about you." he whispers, "We'll go out, you can show your face, put on a smile if you can, and I'll take you to the room where you can have some time for yourself."

"They'll worry for you as well, Loki." I add.

"What do you mean?" he asks.

"Both of us left the room. Don't downplay your importance." I explain, "You're important."

"No I'm not. Not to them." he scoffs.

"To Thor you are. And Jane and Valkyrie. And you may not believe it, but the others are warming up to you- considering the fact that they haven't killed you or banished you or sent you away." I smile, watching him as he looks at the floor, "You're important to me, Loki."

His eyes meet mine and I watch as they flicker with conflicted emotion.

If only I could read him. If only I could look into his brain for a mere second. Only then would I be able to discover his true thoughts- his feelings.

"Why?" he asks.

"Because..." I begin, "I don't judge people on their worst mistakes."

"Well.. maybe you should." he answers.

"You didn't."

After a short minute, I slowly take his hand and pull him up- him stumbling backwards when I loosen my grip too early, pulling me down on top of him. I let out a groan and smile, both of us breaking into a fit of laughter.

"Come on, idiot." I chuckle, both of us getting to our feet.

The two of us begin walking back to the room when I feel a hand sliding into mine, fingers intertwining hesitantly. I glance at Loki, but he avoids my eyes, looking straight forwards. I grip his hand comfortingly and smile- not just for his comfort, but for mine too.

We walk hand in hand, silently, to our room. As he opens the door, we are both greeted by a worried-looking Thor leaping up from a chair.

"Where have you been?" he yells, "It's been hours!"

"We fell asleep." I say, shrugging.

"Yes." Loki nods, letting go of my hand reluctantly.

"I stayed awake all night, waiting here for you two to return! And you just march back in here at early hours in the morning, telling me you fell asleep?" Thor complains.

"Yes, that's exactly what we're doing. I'm sorry you waited, but, that is all really." I reply.

Thor lets out a sigh and nods, looking at me, "How are you feeli-"

"I'm fine, Thor." I answer.

"And you, brother?" Thor asks.

"I'm here, aren't I?" Loki says, "Just go. We're fine."

Thor nods his head again, walking respectfully through the door and out of the room, patting his adoptive brother and the back gently.

"Well." Loki mutters, "Perhaps you'd like a drink?"

"Damn right, I'd like a drink." I laugh.
