Once dinner finishes, I head back to the room, Valkyrie and Jane following close behind.
"I think it's best if dumb and dumber explain what's going on, but- we're leaving tomorrow. Saving the universe, that kinda shit." I explain once we get into our room.
Both of them look at me with confusion and concern, which makes sense at this moment in time.
"But what about making peace with Earth?" Jane asks.
"I don't know- we'll put it on pause or something." I guess, shrugging.
Finally coming to my goddamn rescue, Thor and Loki enter, Thor explaining the entire situation to Jane and Valkyrie.
"Wow, that's..."
"Bullshit!" yelps Jane, cutting Valkyrie off, "Your telling me we are going to space to stop an alien from wiping out half the universe?"
"I know it's a lot, but we mustn't say anything to the others. They won't understand why they can't come." Thor explains, earning a nod from the two.
"Where actually is this guy?" asks Valkyrie, sitting down with Thor and Jane on their bed.
I sit down on my bed, Loki sitting next to me, but with enough distance to not catch some sort of germs from him.
Social distancing.
"Well, there is no exact location," began Loki, "but, considering he is not here on Midgard, there are three places he could be, looking for the three stones that are not located here. Here we have the tesseract, mind stone and, I believe, the time stone- meaning he will either be looking for the Power stone, Reality stone or the Soul stone."
"And where are they?" Thor asks.
"The Soul Stone can be found using some sort of map, but nobody knows where that is. The Power stone is on Xandar, and the Reality stone was last heard of in the tale of the dark elves- that's all I know." Loki explains.
"Well," Thor stands excitedly, "Pack your bags. We're going to Xandar."

Thor goes off to talk to the Avengers, explaining some sort of lie to let us off the hook- which leaves me, Loki, Jane and Valkyrie alone in the room.
"So, how did Thanos send you? To New York? How did you get to him on the first place?" asks Valkyrie, looking at Loki expectingly.
I look at Loki, studying his face carefully, trying to read his emotions. He's very secretive, and I'd be lying if I said I don't want to know what's going through his annoying little mind.
"It just happened." he snaps.
I think even Valkyrie and Jane could see through that lie. Well, it wasn't really a lie... more an evasion of the truth.
A long silence fills the air as I look down at my lap, fiddling with my fingers.
"Do you think we'll... die?" asks Jane, hesitantly.
And I thought the mood couldn't get any dimmer.
"There's a chance." said Valkyrie, "But you heard Thor... the stakes are too high. It's either our lives or half the universe, and I'm sure the public would have a preference."
"Well... when you say it like that, I guess there are worse ways to go." she chuckles.
Thor strides in, standing tall.
"They believe we're going off on royal duty. I suggest we rest well before we depart tomorrow morning." he announces, "We have a long few days ahead."
With a simple nod, everyone returns to their own beds, Thor, Jane and Valkyrie chatting to each other quietly as I read a Midgardian book.
"Sorry." I say, plainly, looking up from my book and glancing at Loki.
He looks up from his poem-writing and gives me a quizzical look.
"I beg your pardon?" he asks.
"I'm sorry for strangling you and whatever." I mumble, looking back at my book.
Loki nods and scoffs, "Never saw you as the apologetic type." he chuckles mockingly.
"Oh no, I can take it back." I snap.
"Nope, no take-backs. You've said it, it's in the air now." he answers, a smirk playing on his lips.
Ass-hole.
"I'm sorry too." he adds, turning back to his waiting.
I smile faintly, continuing with my Midgardian book. Within ten minutes, I feel my eyes starting to close, finding it hard to keep them open.
"I think it is time we all get some rest." announces Thor, "If Thanos is as dangerous as Loki claims, we will need all the strength we can get."
Loki nods silently and we all change into clothes suitable for sleep. I change into some comfy shorts with a large hoodie, Jade wearing a 'nightie' with the words 'Too cool to care' written on it and Valkyrie wearing the same as me but with slightly different designs and a sports bra instead of a hoodie. Thor wears simple pyjama bottoms (with his chest bare) and Loki wears knee-length shorts and a jumper.
The two girls and Thor were content with their revealing nightwear because it was awfully warm in Midgard, whereas me and Loki were sweating in the heat.
"Loki, (Y/n), you're going to be roasting tonight. We're all friends here, take those jumpers off." Jane laughs.
I reluctantly take off my hoodie and am left in a sports bra and shorts, quietly covering my stomach with my arms.
Loki removes his jumper, revealing his chiseled abs and muscly arms. Obviously, he was in no way as muscly as Thor, but he was lean whereas Thor was a lot larger. Honestly, I think I prefer Loki's body to Thor's, Loki looks a lot more relaxed and natural.
I can't help but feel slight self-conscious, but overall relieved at the drop of temperature.
Within and hour everyone lay asleep.
Well, everyone except me.
I lie awake, staring blankly at the white ceiling.
Obviously, I wanted to go to sleep but if I could go to sleep I would've slept by now.
I sit up in my bed and turn to see Loki's bed empty, the duvet drawn back to show his vacant mattress.
I slip out of my bed, walking into the bathroom and, to my surprise, I see Loki leaning over the sink with his head down. His face was a ghostly pale colour but his eyes were pink and puffy... like he'd been crying.
He suddenly glances at me and turns quickly, shoving me out of the bathroom.
"What are you doing?" he snaps, keeping his voice at a whisper.
"That doesn't matter- what are you doing?" I reply, copying his hushed tone.
"Nothing. Go back go sleep." he answers plainly.
Well I'm not fucking dumb.
"Not until you tell me what is wrong." I say, stubbornly.
"No! I don't have explain anything to you, dimwit." he growls, irritated.
"Fine." I reply, simply. "Suffer in silence moron."
