After the somewhat shocking news, me and Loki get dressed for Stark's party and head downstairs, the entire place full of people talking, laughing and smiling at the return of those who had mysteriously disappeared.
I feel an arm slide around my shoulder comfortingly, my face tilting to the side to see a half-smiling (yet smug) Loki Laufeyson.
"You want to get a drink?" he smirks, eyes gazing into my own temptingly.
"You know what happened last time we did that- right?" I laugh.
"Well my Mother and Odin aren't here to ruin our night are they?" he taunts daringly.
And as soon as I open my mouth to accept his immature proposal, my eye catches onto the wonderfully dressed Frigga and... not so wonderfully dressed Odin.
"For fuck's sake!" Loki huffs, smirk dropping into a reluctant sigh.
"Come on, they won't notice us having a few shots. But only a few, I don't want to get drunk." I offer, making my way towards the bar with Loki walking alongside me.
"D'you have anything Asgardian?" I ask the bartender, receiving a short, positive reply, "Well then... six shots of Asgardian Liquor please."
"Six?"
"What's the point in having shots if you don't make it a race?" I smirk as the bartender places three shots in front of both of us.
"You ready?" he asks.
"I'm gonna beat you."
"Ooh, confident." he taunts, "It'd be a shame to crush your spirits."
"Arrogance isn't a good look on you, Loki."
"Then it's a good job I'm so humble." he smirks.
"Alright then, oh humble one." I scoff, both of us taking hold of the first shot in preparation, "3... 2... 1..."
My eyes snap away from his as I tilt my head backwards quickly, tipping the liquid into my mouth, embracing the intense burn as it slides down my throat. Without another thought, the next shot is in my hand, then down my throat- just as the next one too.
As soon as the liquid leaves the small glass, I slam it onto the table (smashing it in the process) but beating Loki by fractions of a second.
"Winner!" I smirk, my throat burning.
"You smashed the glass. I believe a disqualification is in order." he smirks.
"You ass, that's not a rule!"
"I guess you could call it an unspoken rule." he nods.
"If by unspoken you mean it doesn't exist." I huff.
"We'll call it a tie." he reasons.
"No way!"
"Yes way!"
"I must say it doesn't surprise me to see you both bickering already." Frigga interrupts, standing beside us.
"Mother." Loki smiles, nodding his head to her respectfully.
"I've been gone for two months and my son doesn't have the decency to give his Mum a hug? I thought I raised you better than that, Loki." she smiles, Loki laughing timidly and wrapping her in a warm hug, placing a kiss on her cheek.
"And it's lovely to see you too of course, (Y/n)." she smiles, "Glad to have you back. And be back, of course. Me and Odin missed two months ourselves."
"Sorry to hear it... I'm just glad your son managed to look after himself. Enough to keep him alive, at least." I nod.
"He was certainly in good hands with Thor." she smiles, "Speaking of Thor, I believe he's got something special planned tonight."
