I wake up to darkness and a clock flashing the time 12:53PM. I don't remember going to bed.
"Ah shit," I quickly sit up, making myself extremely light headed. Then I sigh, closing my eyes and lay back down.
"Congratulations! You've officially had your first hangover!" Mitch announces.
"Shut the fuck up! Your annoying voice is ten times worse right now..."
Cole chuckles and hands me a glass of water and a pair of sunglasses.
"And it's not my first hangover," I groan, pulling a pillow over my face.
"This fucking sucks.""Well sis, try not to drink the whole bottle next time!"
"I'd rather die!"
Cole kisses my head and drags Mitch downstairs with him. Not that it helps any, I'm pretty sure China could hear him "whispering". I knew one thing for sure, I am never drinking again.
Then again, I said that last time.
I pick up the glass Cole gave me and notice the Alka-Seltzer in it.
"Good boy," I whisper to myself. I sip on the Alka-Seltzer water for a good three minutes, then tried to sleep it off.
My idea didn't go exactly as planned, but the hangover turned into just a headache. Around 3:30 I head downstairs after putting those sunglasses on.
"Where's Cole?" I ask Mitch.
"He went out to get you some stuff... and to get groceries."
I walk over to the television and turn it and the Xbox on. I pick up the controller and sit down, putting my feet up on the coffee table. Mitch sees this and joins in.
"I'm going to destroy you," he tells me. I laugh and say, "just wait..."
We play C.O.D Ghosts for almost two hours before Cole walks in. I'm in the middle of demolishing Mitch for the eighth time.
"HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?!"
"A magician never tells his secret..."
Cole announces his presence with thunderous laughter, causing Mitch to get killed again.
"You gonna let a woman beat you at video games?"
He picks up a pillow and hurls it at Cole.
"She plays like a lonely nerd that lives in his parent's basement! It's practically impossible to beat her!" He argues.
Cole shakes his head still laughing at Mitch.
"Get off your ass and help me carry this stuff in before your reputation depletes any further."
After being killed, again, in a standoff against me, Mitch throws his controller at the recliner adjacent to the coffee table. He stands up and take his rage out on a cushion.
"Now that's just sad..."
He ignores Cole's comment and goes out to the car.
"He's such a baby," I whisper to Cole, taking the last kill for my team. He smiles and stands in front of the screen.
"You're a better wall than a window, baby."
He chuckles, but doesn't move so I get up and walk to him. I hug him and put my head on his shoulder, proceeding to play Call Of Duty. It takes a minute for him to catch on, but when he does, he finally gets his way. He kisses me so suddenly that I let the controller slip out of my hand.
"Xbox off."
I press the power button and he's kissing me again. A few minutes of making out and Mitch shoes back up, unnoticed.
"Stop with that adorable shit. It's making me sick, like I think I threw up just now..." he says, finally speaking up.
"Jealous?" Cole asks, hugging me tighter.
"No shit. Of course I'm jealous, your girlfriend is the total package. You lucky son of a... gun..."
Cole walks over to Mitch with his arms wide open.
"Now, now. If you wanted to hug me too, you could've just asked."
Mitch makes the most disgusted face and backs away. Cole couldn't stop laughing.
"Even if I were a woman I'd be jealous that you're with Em. People wonder why lesbians are lesbians. She's the answer!"
They keep saying ridiculous things like that, not that I believe any of it, but it's still fun.
Finally I say, "Jealousy is bad for you Mitch."
"But love is worse..."
Me and Cole exchange looks. He was thinking otherwise. But Mitch is right.
Love is worse.
