The days passed fairly quickly Ace by my side almost 99% of the time. Most people would start to hate each other and need a break from the others presence but for some odd reason Ace and I never grow tired of each other and if we do have a really big fight, which I can only count how many those were on one hand, we always make up it might take like a week or so but we always find our ways back home.
It was New Years eve and I still had to get ready. I figured I would go all out I mean it's not like it would hurt me to wear something nice, so I decided to put on my black skater dress do my hair in a braided ponytail deal and do a kind of smokey eye look along with my new necklaces from Mase and some bracelets I've collected through the years, I may have gone slightly bracelet crazy but oh well it's not like someone can tell me no and it's not hurting anybody.

When I looked in the mirror I was slightly shocked I pulled it off. There was a knock at the door I knew it wasn't Ace because he knocks a certain pattern "yeah?" I called out the door opened revealing Lily who gaped at me before squealing "my baby girl! Your mother would be so proud of you darling she would want to take a bazillion pictures with me" Lily said with a sad smile her eyes shining with un shed tears I gave her a watery smile we embraced and cherished the memories of my mother, her bestfriend. There was another knock this time it was Ace.
"Mom didn't I send you up to get Pixie not stay up here and keep her" Ace complained and froze when he saw me I just smiled "it's a good thing this stuff is waterproof" I joked "Lily laughed Ace smiled at us, for what reason I do not know.
Ace took my arm and escorted me downstairs behind Lily. I leaned on him but he didn't seem to mind. He knew something happened with his mom and knew not to push what it was the great thing about having someone who has known you your whole life as someone who us by your side all the time. The boys had a few fireworks to light off right at midnight it was just a few mortars. Anybody who wanted to participate would grab a mortar and a tube before midnight and go to the designated lighting area then on 3 we would light the fuse and run away to yell 'happy new years!' With everyone else.
Right now it was only 9:27 it was dark enough for the fire though my dad was manning the grill "what do you two want?" My dad asked I smiled just a plain burger please" I said even though I wasn't really hungry Ace looked at me "I'll just split her burger" he said I sighed in relief my dad nodded and started our burger I looked at the snack table to see that there was some seared vegetables and I grabbed a few to snack on and I sat down Ace picked me up an set me on his lap. I held my piece of half eaten zucchini up and he took a bite we stared at the fire I felt a pair of eyes on me and looked around till I saw a guy I didn't recognize was staring at me I just glared at him and gazed back at the fire.
The music started up and people started dancing and having fun I laughed at them and settled for watching them instead of the fire Don't Threaten Me With a Good Time came on and Ace suddenly picked me up and took us to the makeshift dance floor "common thief I know you like to dance and this song is awesome and you get it stuck in your head all the time so no arguments" he said laughing and dancing to the upbeat song "common you know you know it, sing it with me!" he exclaimed letting his childish side out and I couldn't resist and I finally started dancing along and started singing the lyrics playfully with him soon everyone was screaming the song and having a blast.
A couple songs later we sat down and Berlin brought us two plates each had half a burger made the way we liked it. We ate quietly I checked the time to see it was only 10. "Common let's go dance before you go stir crazy" Ace said to which I agreed easily The hour passed quickly before Ace and I were standing next to the tubes matches in hand people counting down in the background "FIVE! FOUR! THREE!" We lit the fuse and ran to safety just in time to scream 'happy new year' with everyone and see the fireworks explode Ace brought me in for a kiss that I melted into.
The next few hours consisted of everybody calming down, sending people home or deeming them too drunk to go home. When everyone was safe I went up to my room, took off my makeup and getting into nightclothes.
The next morning I made my decision, it was my last day home before I had to get back to my classes and I already knew what I had to do, it pained me to do but I knew I needed to. Ace followed me not knowing what we were doing I drove the long hour drive slowly walked on the wet green grass before stopping, "hey mom."
