"I know" Thoria said. "I've seen it. I've run from it for so long, but I have always known this day would come."

I took her hand and she didn't resist me. My thumb stroked her soft, blue skin. I couldn't remember the last time I had held someone's hand like this. Ren had offered me his hand many times, but always demandingly, with a need, an urgency for me to join him in his madness. This was different, this gentleness frightened me.

"My people" she begged.

"Your people will not be helped if we get caught" I reminded her. "There are too many bucketheads." Even in hushed voices the cave echoed of us. I glanced out towards the entrance.

"But you're their commander" she insisted.

"I doubt that's on the table anymore" I said. "General Hux is onto me. I don't know how. But I do know that if I command the platoon to act against him, they will know I'm a traitor."

Thoria swallowed nervously, squeezing her lips shut tight. The situation was less than ideal. I couldn't see the road ahead anymore, but I knew we couldn't stay here.

"I guess my visions haven't told me everything" she said with remorse.

I stroked the top of her hand one last time, looking into her worried, wide-open eyes, pleading silently for her to just go with me on this. We had to be quiet and swift for our escape to be successful.

"We need a diversion" I thought aloud. "Something to lure all the troopers to the back of the rocks."

She nodded, a sudden determination on her expression.

"I've got an idea." She held up a few small bombs in her free hand and gestured for me to take them. "You were right" she said. "We do have more."

I followed her out of the temple. She turned left and took us further in between the mesas, passing by the carved out buildings in the stone. One of them had a staircase reaching up the side of the mountainous rock, a few metal bars the only proof of a missing handrail. I drew a deep breath. Don't look down.

She stopped and motioned for me to push myself flush against the stone wall. My heart started to race. With a finger over her lips, she nodded down towards the ground beneath us. Quietly we watched two Stormtroopers march past, blasters in hand. Most likely patrols. We waited for them to move on before we resumed our climb.

The air was calm and quiet at the top of the mesa; nothing but desert and a couple more mesas as far as my eye could see. By my guesstimate we were right on top of the temple. Once again Thoria waved for me to stay down. I caught sight of a probe droid drilling down into the rock ahead of us, searching the terrain for something. I didn't want to think about how wrong this could go; if it spotted us too soon, we would have more than just Stormtroopers to worry about.

Thoria pointed at it. Take it out, I thought, loudly. I nodded. Staying low, hunched to the ground, I approached it slowly, my steps feather light on the rock surface. The drilling sound grew to earpiercing levels the closer I got. The droid didn't even turn its round head, so sure of its safety, so focused on its mission.

I grabbed one of Thoria's small bombs out of my satchel, drawing a deep breath before I hit the button and placed it on the side of the droid. There was no point in hiding from it anymore. I bolted back towards Thoria as the droid noticed the beeping of its own imminent destruction, and began spinning rapidly with worry. I heard it send out a distress signal just as the bomb went off, exploding the droid to pieces, shooting sparks and smoke up into the air.

"They will be here any minute" Thoria urged.

Indeed, shouting and thumping came from below us. I spotted a squadron of Stormtroopers on the ground, frantically running towards the origin of the sound, towards us.
