how to keep calm
when all you want to do is panic:first, you have to convince yourself that breathing deep is the only thing that will keep you alive, remain calm and settle your mind [this might look like the end of the world - and sure, maybe it is - but you're still alive and you need to keep breathing] pain demands to be felt but in due time.
next, maybe don't keep watching the sun sinking deep within the concrete, it will only alert you to the fact that even with the sun now gone and the moon showing brightly, the sky is still very much ablaze [this day would later become known as the night the world burned down].
then, focus on the ocean [and the magical properties it holds, along with all the magical beings deep within that remain unknown] imagine there's a mermaid deep within, a seaweed crown atop his head; candy-flossed pink cheeks; deep deep blue skin [almost the kind of blue that's black]; and a smile that holds the same calming magic that the moon holds. focus on the way he could just lull you to sleep, rocking you back and forth in the waves, petting your hair, and placing soft kisses to the edge of your hairline.
after, remain focused on the ocean but draw it away from daydreaming [it might help calm your nerves for enough time to think clearly but the world doesn't wait for your nerves to calm before licking the tips of your toes with flames] you need to stay calm yet alert [think of all the times you've rushed home in the pouring rain, you loved the way it melted into your skin but you couldn't stay too long for fear of being struck by lighting].
lastly, remember that even though the world may not be the same, there are people out their aching and pleading just the same as you [remember that there's someone on the other side of the world with their veins burning, staring at the ocean, just like you].
