(Y/N POV)

Princess Zelda of Hyrule, a name well known throughout all the lands. Many people doubted her abilities to be the next ruler of Hyrule, mainly due to her inability to harness the ancient magic within herself. They were proven wrong when she and her personal knight defeated Calamity Ganon.

I was not amongst the crowd that doubted her, most definitely not. No, I believed in her ever since I was a young squire. She was chosen by the Goddesses for a reason, and I never doubted her for a second.

I, on the other hand, was always doubting myself. I had many flaws that one could easily see. For example, my clumsiness. Had it not been my habit to trip over things, I would probably have been apart of the Champions. But then again, I was not alive during that time, but I wouldn't have let that stop me. All the more reason to be closer with the Princess.

Sir Link is a lucky fellow, always being around her all the time, I envy him a bit. But being part of the Royal Guard doesn't mean I can not see the Princess, it's just that I an unable to be around her as much as I want to be. At this point, it is clear that I have feelings for the Princess, but I am terribly shy. I wonder if I will ever find a way into her heart...

I closed the journal I was writing in and looked out the window of my chambers. The suns beautiful rays shone through the window and bounced about my room. It was a small room with a dresser, bed, wardrobe, basic essentials, etc.

I began clearing my desk and hid my journal. While doing that, I quietly hummed to myself the lullaby my mother used to sing to me. It helped calm my nerves as a child and helps calm them to this day. With the terrible anxiety I have, one would most certainly need something to bring them to ease.

My thoughts were interrupted when the Captain of the Guard came knocking at my door. He told me to take on guard duty outside Princess Zelda's room. I nodded my head and obeyed his command. I was never one for conversations so I would use physical movement to communicate. Others find it odd that I do not speak even though I able perfectly cable of speaking. Of course there are the sly nicknames they come up with like "deaf and dumb", "mute", and my personal favorite, "The Silent one." I like the last one a lot because I sometimes envision it striking fear into the hearts of my enemies. But I faint at the sight of blood so violence is not exactly my forte.

I quickly made my way to the Princess' room, knocked, and poked my face in to alert her we have changed the guards out. She smiled and waved at me, in which I returned. She knows that I can speak but also knows about my shyness.

I closed the door softly and remained in place, not moving one bit.

...

About 2 hours have passed and I began thinking about the Princess. I was literally standing outside her room. I could easily go in and tell her how I feel... But that is too hasty of an approach. I began to assess other ways I could tell her. I had thought of giving her a love note before, but each time I go to give it to her, the opportunity passes. And what I mean by that, I chicken out and run back to my chambers. But asides that, I usually pour most of my time into perfecting my writing. Each time I chicken out, I go back and revise the whole thing. My writing has improved, but it can be so much better. I have consulted with many different people, but to no avail. However I ran into one particular fellow who gave me great advice.

His name was Kass. He is a song writer who has many songs about old stories of Hyrule. I ran into him once in the village, closest to the castle. He understood my troubles and gave me a lesson in the art of song writing. By the end of my time there, I felt very enlightened and awoken to this strange new world. I am no singer, but a writer of songs.

I began to remember the song I had written that day and the improvements I could make. Without noticing, my nervous twitch began to act up. A maid walking by noticed this and asked if I was okay. I nodded my head and ceased my twitching at once.

...

Another guard came along to relieve me of my duty. Once he came, I immediately sped off to my room. I closed the door behind me, and quickly got to work. I had never felt this surge of determination before, but it certainly helped me now. I completed the song and admired my work.

(Imagine this being sung in an upbeat tune, like at a bar or something, like how they do in the Disney movies) (I'm thinking like in the Rapunzel movie, the Ugly Duckling bar place they went to) (The chorus parts are not apart of the actual song, I just added them in for fun)

When I look at thee, my heart is set aflame,
I cannot stop the waves of fire as my soul burns for you,
I douse the flames with water, but they return much hotter,
These flames of love will never die, they live to see your shining light.

(Chorus, Men chanting)

The fire is hot,

The fire is hot,

The fire is hot,

I cannot control them, they keep growing ever so,
Oh won't they ever cease? Nay, they burn for you,
With you around they will never die, they will continue to fight,
I try to keep them at bay, but they fight against my waves,
Oh when will it stop?

(Chorus)

The fire is hot,

The fire is hot,

The fire is hot,

My soul is like a phoenix's flames, that always stay aflame,
To douse the fire is to douse my soul,
Without a soul, who am I to be?
Am I just destined to mute? Or will I shout my love?

(Chorus, chanting much quieter)

The fire is hot,

The fire is hot,

The fire is hot,

I sat back and reread the song, satisfied I sealed it in an envelope. I quickly rushed out to deliver the song before the Princess leaves her room to go elsewhere, I prefer that she read it in private.

Along the way, I ran into Sir Link. He smiled and gave me a small wave, that of which I returned. I will admit once more that I do envy him, but I do not dislike him, he is a kind fellow and a fellow "mute".

I continued my way and reached the door. The other guards remained in place and did not move. I pointed to the seal-envelope hoping they would understand. They moved their spears aside. I knocked twice, heard the Princess say "enter", and walked in.

She was sitting at her desk when I emerged from the outside. I quickly bowed to her.

"Oh come now, no need for that. What do you need, Y/N?"

I looked up and pulled out the envelope. She took it from my hands, studied it, and then grabbed her small knife to open it. She read through the song, absorbing all the words and their meanings. By the time she was finished, I was gone.
