Description: Sirius feels betrayed when the Potter's get a cat.
Story:
When they stepped into the Potter's House, Sirius noticed it immediately. There was something different. Something wrong.
He stopped in the entranceway and sniffed around, drawing Remus's attention, who'd been about to keep walking into the kitchen where Lily had yelled a greeting.
Remus gave Sirius a funny look. "What're you doing that for?" He asked as James came stomping down the stairs carrying Harry on his hip.
"Pads! Moony!"
Sirius looked up, momentarily forgetting the disturbance. He grinned widely and reached out, snatching his godson from Prongs.
"Hey, my little prongslette!" Sirius greeted, bouncing Harry around and tickling him, making him shriek in delight.
James watched with a fond smile, pulling Remus into a hug. Lily came around the corner then, wiping her hands in an apron and hugging Remus as well. She kissed Sirius on the cheek.
Sirius's nose caught the scent once more. He frowned, reaching over and plucking a hair off of Lily's sleeve.
"What-" Lily asked, but Sirius was too busy staring at the hair with a look nothing short of terror.
For it was a cat hair.
"You've gotten a cat?!" Sirius shrieked.
"Okay," James cut in, taking Harry back into his arms. "I told you he'd react like this."
"A cat?!"
"Sirius—" Lily tried to say.
"A cat."
"Yes Sirius, a cat."
And the little bugger came around the corner, rubbing its fur all over the wall like it owned the place. Sirius stared at it with loathing.
Lily picked the orange tabby up in her arms and snuggled her face into his fur. "His name is Fluffers."
"Fluffers," Sirius repeated flatly, taking what he thought was a discreet step back.
Remus was covering his mouth with his hand, trying desperately not to laugh out loud.
"But you've already got a pet," Sirius said with a pout, pointing to himself. "Why'd your have to go and get one of those?"
Lily rolled her eyes. "Oh get over it, Sirius. He's just a cat for Merlin's sake. And I'll have you know that Harry quite likes him."
As if on cue, Harry reached out suddenly (thank Merlin James had a good grip on him) and said, "Fwuffoos!"
Sirius growled lowly in the back of his throat. "Padfoot," Sirius corrected. "It's Padfoot."
"Pafoooot!" Harry said with a clap of his tiny hands. That significantly helped Sirius's battered mood.
James set Harry down on the carpet and let him chase Fluffers around the living room.
Later that evening, as they all sat at the dinner table, Fluffers took a liking to Sirius and kept rubbing against his legs the entire meal. It set Sirius on edge, and he had to grit his teeth almost the entire meal.
After the meal, Lily thought it would be funny to scoop the cat up and drop him right into Sirius arms and watch Sirius struggle.
Sirius shouted some profanities and struggled to balance the cat because he didn't want it in his arms but he didn't want to drop the bugger on the ground either.
But then Sirius realized just how soft Fluffers was. Sirius's eyes widened as he ran his fingers through the cat's fur.
By the time Sirius and Remus departed back to their own home, Sirius and Fluffers had made good friends, but Sirius would've rather died than admit it.
